He fell for the old trick of trying to use electric drive to get better mpg's - and failed.

But he did say he saved £500 ($800) in fuel against a similar sized Kia over 5,000 miles. That's £1,000 a year for average UK driving or £80 a month. Then there is zero car tax which for a 1.8 automatic you'd expect to pay £250 a year. By having a Prius he's shown you can save £100 a month ($160).

One for the blokes in their 20's: From my experience the Prius got lots of attention from the ladies. Want to attract the opposite sex? Forget the sports car and get a Prius. Seriously ;)

At least he did not perpetuate the 'B is for battery' myth.

Seems so many people get horribly confused about electric drive in a Prius non-plugin. This guy was trying so hard to keep it in EV mode while accelerating. Bad move. ...

Other day was talking to a Toyota salesguy who lcaimed he owned a 2013 Prius. kept saying he uses EV button to keep it EVing while under 25 MPH. Whut? Man, I don't bother at all with that EV button. Am I missing something?

Lately, I think the biggest help in driving is not only looking at car in front of me, but also the traffic ahead of it to keep even speed and anticipate slowdowns. And I just banked a 56.x mpg tank, 525 miles and 9.2 something gal to refill. But enough bragging about mpgs with this thing. I'd like more to 'brag about' on my car actually.

Do you have current hybrid demographics, mine are moldy other than age. Experian this year said hybrid drivers skew much older 45% are 56 years old or older, 52% have no children at home.

I know the 5 year old stuff had prius drivers more male, educted, with higher incomes, but haven't seen the break downs lately.

Thanks they didn't try to equalize for demographics so we can't use the demographic data.

There is excellent data though for attitude. It appears that even though hybrids have been around for almost 15 years in america, there still is education that needs to go on. The plug-in education is mainly on the internet through short videos, but because of the older skew of the hybrid demographics tv advertisement and written content may be more effective. Part of the education though needs to be done at the dealership though, and that may be one of the best places where training gets higher hybrid sales.
