Hi everyone. New member here. I have been quite taken with the new Ford 1.0L engine they are putting in the Ford Fiesta. I learned today that they will start putting this motor in the Ford Focus around the first of the year. There is no information on the cost or MPG yet. There is a good chance the cost will be at least $20,000.00 if not more. I'll do my best to buy the Toyota Prius c if I can swing it. I don't think it will cost much more than that. I'll buy the 2014 if I can. You all stay warm this winter and watch out for the crazy drivers.

Hi and welcome. I just bought my first prius after having my 2014 focus turn into a lemon. I owned it all of 3 months. Please do your research on fiesta and focus dual clutch transmission complaints. After shopping I think the focus and prius c are pretty close in price.

Welcome to the group. We bought a Prius last year after trying the Focus, among others. The Focus felt cramped to me, and cost almost as much as the Prius.

...is that 1L the one with just 3 cylinders?
Hard choice but one plus for a Prius is you can hook up emergency power via inverter connected to 12v battery.
I am lucky never had to do it, but some have found it an important advantage.

Welcome to PC! Where in Michigan are you, BountyBuddy?

Also, on a different hand, it is rumored that the Chevy Volt 2.0 will get a 1.0 three-cylinder turbo charged powerplant to run the generator.

Yes, I have thought about buying used but I would much prefer to buy new if I can. Do you know where I can get my best deal to buy my Prius? Thanks for your help. Drive safe my friend.

    Welcome to priuschat!

Funny story, back on a Saturday in March 2013 I was looking at a Ford Focus to replace my 93 Honda Civic. I get a discount at work with Ford (their X-plan, though you need a company code to access it), so I was almost ready to buy, but held off thankfully.

I later saw the Prius c, and the price was close enough to the Focus that I considered them as well. Test drove a c3, but ended up buying a c4 because I liked the heated seats (very nice in these Wisconsin winters), the foglights are useful for my drive to work on 3rd shift through some suburban roads that sometimes gets local fog, and hopefully the alloy wheels can withstand salt better than a steel wheel come wintertime.

No problems with it at all, but I own a liftback now because I do more highway driving than city, and my brother needed a more reliable car for his job so I sold him my c.

I also considered the c because it got much better mileage than the Focus did (53 city/46 freeway, 50 combined, though I was able to get 55-58 on average), and I also liked that it had a beltless engine, something I hated having to replace constantly in my civic. On top of that, though it got better than earlier years, the Focus still had issues with it, something I also didn't want to deal with (had to replace the head gasket twice on my civic, not cheap).

Feel free to ask any questions. We'll do what we can to answer them.
