HELP! No Power Indication on My 2006 Prius

    Hello All,

    I am having a problem with my 2006 Prius. A month ago I got a Red Triangle on my heads up display and minutes later my car died. Nothing will come on with the exception of my interior lights, hazards lights, and the tone from the door being open. I have replaced the aux battery with factory one from toyota, and also i just bought a replacement key fob thinking that the car is not recognizing my key (i only have one... Long story) when I went through the procedures for re-programming the new fob, the car will not go into programming mode. Am I just throwing parts at this car, or should I take it out into a field and shoot it. Please help.

    By the way. I get no Heads up display with old key fob, no accessory lights or relays clicking.

    Did you ever have the Inverter Pump Recall done? If not, then as a guess your old pump may have failed catastrophically, and blown the main fusible link to the 12V system (AM1 or AM2). Use a voltmeter and check the 12V battery voltage at the battery terminals, and at the 12V jump points under the hood in the fuse box. Check that all the 12V connections are tight, including the negative bolt to the chassis. If the voltage is OK at those points when you try to start the car, then check the fusible links. If it is the pump that caused the problem, then Toyota will fix it.

    As nh70 says above I strongly suspect the 100 amp strip fuse is blown under the clear plastic cover in the fuse box under the hood. Looking through this cover you should see a metal strip. This should be solid from end to end. Any burning signs or missing strip tells you this is the problem. Unfortunately this item has to be fitted from the underside of the fuse box, an awkward job. I can post the power distribution circuit if that would help.
    Have you or anyone at any point tried to jump start the car?

    I have checked the fusable link near the battery. and they battery itself is sitting at 12.8. I will have to check the fusable links in the front. I know not about this pump recall, but I will look into it. Does that power switch have the possiblity of going bad?

    Is the 100 DC/DC fuse "Under" the fuse box?

    The reason for asking if you tried to jump start the car is it only takes a split second of wrong polarity connection to blow the 100 amp strip fuse. Or if in fitting the new battery it was somehow connected the wrong way "unlikely". This fuseis definitely the first place to check.
    The pump recall can be checked on line at Toyota to see if it has been done. If the pump is the cause of your initial problem Toyota will fix it for free if the recall has not been carried out.

    In the fuse box there is a long clear plastic cover. Under this cover is a long metal strip. This strip is the fuse and should be intact along it's length.

    Well at this point the only electrical I have is door chime, flashers, if I put keyfob in I get nothing when I press the power button. the 100 amp fuse looks intact. I also ran a tester on each of the fuses and everything checks out. I will have to I guess get it towed into toyota.

    Can you measure the 12V battery at the battery and give us the reading (just want to be sure) or are you 100% confident the 12V battery is good?

    how many hours after shutting the car down did you measure 12.7?
