Why are people replacing the pump when it is the gasket that is leaking?
Like others, I also see some pink fluid dried on the outside of the pump and am researching what I need to do.
Is it acceptable to just replace the gasket? or are there issues with the pump itself as well?
    Thanks

    It's not a gasket leak

You could be the first to just replace the gasket, reuse the old pump, then report back after a few months as to the status.

If the gasket had gone bad, you would be loosing coolant regularly and (most likely) at a much greater volume. Gaskets rarely go bad, fortunately.

On mine coolant did come from weep holes. Gasket was perfect could have reused that with no problem.

    Ohh, OK.
I didn't understand where, exactly, the leak was coming from. I feel a little stupid now, I didn't look close enough at it.
Thank you all for your reply's.
