Do you put a key in with the Prius C? If so, you may get help in the Prius C forum.

This is a Gen 3 (liftback) sub forum and stopping or starting the car does not involve putting a key in.

Our C has a smart key, like all our other Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Key in pocket, car goes. Just press the power button on your way out.

There have been reports of the car acting twitchy on shutdown if the 12v battery is low, or if the vehicle speed sensor is wrong, or if the shifter is not going back to a neutral no-connect state. But in all cases, the car will turn off if you press and hold the power button. If that works, but gently poking it does not, you do have a problem somewhere and it shouldn't be too hard to track down.

not all the model Cs have smart key. the C1 and C2 have the regular key.

you dont have to crank the car. but the key has ACC, On and then "crank" position. the key moves similar to a gas car

I do remember that now. One of the reasons why we laughed off the C1 and bought the C4.
