The HUD in my Four keeps auto-adjusting, and it washes out pretty easily here in Albuquerque. Is there any way to override this and disable the auto-brightness, so that it stays at whatever I set it at using the controls on the dash?

There is a sensitivity adjustment (OM under "Customizable Features"), but it has to changed by the dealer. It might be accessible via the OBD buss, but I cannot find a gauge setup for it.

I asked at my dealer and they said it was just hooked up to the headlight auto-on sensitivity via the main console...I like the headlights being automatic, so I opted not to turn that down to the minimum setting. Looks like I'll just have to live with it.

This is the quote from the OM:

    Sensor sensitivity
    for darkening
    the brightness of
    the meter, navigation
    system
    and instrument
    panel depending
    on the outside
    brightness.

There is another setting for the headlights. It is in the manual.
