    Sorry for the low quality...

Can't decide on the two shrouds. Pretty sure I'm gonna use the black gatling gun. The E46 shroud is really big in the Prius headlight bowl.

Do you plan on darkening the whole headlight or just the bottom bowl? IMO darkening everything would fit right in with the dark demeanor the car has going. Do you plan on removing the amber as well?

Gatling Gun wins hands down. I saw another Prius with the E46 shroud and it gave the car a wide-eyed look, like a cartoon character in a bad way. The GG is strictly business.

$120 New Eagle eye 2004-2009 Toyota Prius headlights
$60 Mini-H1 projectors with black GatlinGun shrouds
$75 12" TRS XB LED strips

$255 not counting miscellaneous parts, paint and countless man hours. I still need to pick up ballast and bulbs though...still though the final product is way better than any eBay Prius projector..

    Nice.

You smoked the turn signal bowl correct?
Are you going to paint the DRL trim black as well?
Leaving the reflector and amber out?

The modified headlights should fit right in with the look of your car.

Yup! Smoked corner light, signal and main bowl. Once I finish the DRL trim, I'll paint it satin black as well. Should still have enough reflection to be safe and looks good with my amber corner and turn signal led lights. Will stay with my DDM 55w 6000k bulbs for the projectors.

    Busy weekend.

Finally upgraded to the 24mm front sway bar on my 2007...makes SUCH a difference. Car handles so flat around turns... amazing. can't believe I waited so long to do the upgrade on this car.

Then finally put in these DIY retrofited Mini H1 satin black trim, smoked chrome headlights with TRS Morimoto XB LED DRL.

    ...finally

...wow, those xb strips look stellar, they look like a perfect fit, is that the case?

Are they mounted in front of the clear "diffuser"?

What is your power source for HID testing?

Are those sways from another Toyota or aftermarket?

Any projector output shots or daytime photos with the headlights mounted?

    Nice Harbor Freight sockets.

Sorry for all the questions but damn those strips look good, I knew they would look but those are next-level. The way the newer non-yellow leds contrast the black trim is perfect.

The 12" LED was almost a perfect fit. Had this version from TRS been trimmable, I would have done so down to just over 11" which is the length of the oem faux led light bar. I ended blacking out the excess so it wouldn't cause any weird lightning in the housing. My only complaint is not that they're not bright enough, it's that they're not bright white enough. Probably closer to a 4500K vs my preferred color choice of 6000K. I initially trimmed out the fake LEDs with a dremel, then secured an aluminum backing/heatsink behind them. Overall I'm super impressed with my new LED DRL.

The sway bar are oem out of a 2008 Toyota Matrix. One of the best suspension upgrade you can do for the Prius if you like flat cornering. There is a whole another thread about the front sway bar and how you can use either the Corolla or matrix front sway bar to upgrade the Prius suspension.

Yup! Good ol cheap Harbor Freight. I tend to use them more than I do my Craftsman tools.

I'll try to get some shots of the car, this is all I have at this point.

    More fun...

Have been having an internal conflict with my tinted tail lights and newly darker tinted windows as traveling in reverse is almost impossible now without aid of the rear camera. Because I haven't attempted to repaint that tail light housing as UCSBWSR recently did, I have been toying with the idea of an LED backup light. I finally made the jump...but still plan on updating the look of my rear tail lights to match the newly retrofitted painted headlights.

Here is what evolved... a 8" SP LED Flood light bar from DDM.

I suppose...a bit of overkill.. lol..who am I trying to kid. I love it! ..and it's not really even visible unless you squat down and look underneath the car.

nice, i really like that light. if you had a tow hitch, you might have been able to find a way to secure the light to the hitch port. make it removable or something.

    but nice idea!

I WANT THIS!!! I have such a hard time backing up early in the morning, I have super bright LED backup bulbs, but they illuminate everything to the sides of the car, but not directly *behind* me. I've been thinking about this mod for quite some time. Thanks for figuring it out for me! Looks awesome!

Ran the power side of the LED to a single pole single throw relay (PepBoys $5.99) then grounded the negative on a bare metal with a metal tapping screw. Hooked a T-tap into the positive lead for the reverse passenger lamp above the 12V battery and tied that into the SPST relay. Tied in the SPST relay to the same ground as the LED light. Ran a power wire from the 12v batter to the SPST and voila! Power to the LED light controled by the oem backup lamps.

I was using 60W LED back up lamps and they still weren't bright enough with the taillight tint. This mod was fairly cheap and gives AMAZING rear view visibility.
