So my husband and I are considering buying a 2014 prius v on black friday. Right now, the price is 24,000 for the base model. First off, that seems like a good price based on my research, am I right? It's the last one on the lot and they are trying to clear the 2014's out, so I am wondering if they'll go lower....I can only try, right?

Would like thoughts on negotiating, and whether any of you think there is any wiggle room on the price. This is our first time buying a new car (we've always bought used) but I think this might be a good time, give our long commute.

    Thanks.

wow, then that is an excellent price. i would offer them 22,000, hoping to meet somewhere between there and the 24 they are asking. even if they won't budge you're still getting good price. all the best!(y)

Assuming you're availing yourself of the 0% financing, a couple thousand one way or another isn't really going to make much difference in payments. Just tell them you want the $24K price to be an "out the door" figure. (no extra fees). They know that the 2015 model will be arriving soon and are pleased to have the 2014 be gone.

"2015 Prius v offers a great new starting at price of $26,675 (a decrease of $75 from MY14) and brings the Advanced Technology Package down over $1700 to a more affordable price point for those customers who want to have it all, including some of our new Prius v safety features.

So you're getting a discount of $2,675 on a discontinued model. I'd be wanting way more off the price

Okay how bout we start negotiating at 21,000 and hope they get to 22500 out the door. I didn't realize the 2015 was that cheap.....

true car is saying $23,536 for our area. So I think 22500 isn't a bad cost out the door. We'll see what they say.

I suspect that the recent gasoline prices have made demand for hybrids pretty soft lately.

I bought a used toyota prius v, 2, 45 k miles for 22350 last June 2014. But I have seen in some big markets the price is lower but not here.
