I had a 7-inch Nexus 7 tablet and loved it. Unfortunately I was too physical on the charge port and basically disconnected it from the board....if a serious hardware guy comes along, they can bring it back from the dead.

So I got a 7-inch Nook HD on sale for $99. It has 1920x1024 resolution - great for that price range. Downsides is no cameras and the Nook overlay kills half the Android OS - limits the navigation (except buying at Barnes & Noble ;) ), many apps at Google Play won't work.

So I got a 32GB mini SD and put AndroidForNook so I can dual boot between the Nook OS and strait Android. I love it! Only reason I took the cautious dual boot option was fear of bricking (killing) my tablet. I'm happy to return to the real Android world again. Don't know if I will bother to ever boot into the Nook OS.

I rooted my old Nook Color back in the day. The dedicated Nook software does have a much better interface for reading IMO.

Much better experience than using the Android Nook reading app. Doesn't the rooted Nook HD also let you load and use Android apps while booted in the Nook software?

So far the crispness of the font ebook readers in straight Android is just as good.

Not in Australian English, you didn't. I hope.

    Urban Dictionary: root

Ah. Maybe you did indeed root it in Australian English. The charge port really isn't designed for that.

    ^ meant physical like AHnuld.

On a related subject, a black employee new to America mispronounced AHnulds last name in a way that would be suicide for a white guy like me. Suggested it's OK to mention him on a first-name basis.

There've been problems with physical rooting by Arnold too, allegedly.
