This is a really strange way they're extending warranty: case by case, on the sly. Are they seriously thinking it won't get out?

I agree. One letter at a time. I would like to know their rationale behind this.

I just got my warranty enhancement letter with sticker yesterday.

My inverter failed back on June 26 & was replaced at no charge - clock was at 121K - currently at 137K
The software recall was performed at the same time. Its all documented here
    2010 Prius died - P0A94 - Inverter Failure - Replaced | PriusChat

To Toyota's credit I have had no more problems with the inverter :)

I wouldn't call it a "case by case" basis. The warranty extension is for all the replaced or reprogrammed inverters within the affected VIN block. They shouldn't HAVE to mail a sticker to put in the warranty book but if you have a problem it may make life easier at the service counter.

The case-by-case referred to above is the amount of time between members performing the EOE Safety Recall and finally receiving the warranty letter. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason. Also each letter for was one individual VIN and not a range of VIN as in previous letters.

The mailing of the letters isn't based on having the recall performed.

Do you know that for a fact or speculation? Please post any facts that you may have.

The vast majority on another thread had the recall performed before receiving the letter as much as 7 to 9 months later.

There have been a few that have reported not having the recall and getting a letter. The vast majority have performed the recall.

I received the letter. I haven't given a dealer the opportunity to honda the car.

Good for you ! If I had known that Toyota would issue the warranty extension without completing the EOE recall I would not have had the software upgrade either. It has certainly reduced the response of the electric motor.

jd, it doesn't work that way. The letter states the extended warranty applies only after the recall is done or the part replaced. I have no intention of fixing anything that isn't broken.
