No EV when first powered on but plenty of battery power?

    The behavior was chosen to maximize battery-life and not compromise safety, as well as deliver a PZEV emission rating. Changing that simply is not going to happen.

    Perhaps the next-gen will offer more.

    Ok, 30 seconds? Enough to get car from garage to driveway without firing up. Since it's impossible to shift to neutral. ;(

    I can't say. I didn't use EV mode hardly ever to move in and out of the garage last winter that I recall. Now that I'm aware of it, I've been doing it more and now noticed the pattern. I'm just surprised that it gets cold enough in the garage to lock out the EV mode in the early morning due to low temps.
