Canadian car..no maintenance light. Obviously I can plan in advance, but I don't think I should have to wait a a week or 2 to get a car fixed if a repair issue presents itself. Just to be clear..they did not ask if it was a major or minor issue or if the car was operable...it was wait a week or longer and then come in. Customer is king is not their motto.

Look it like the dentist. Regular things like tooth scaling and check up, no big deal if it happens this week or next. Broke off a filling and you're climbing the walls, you need to get in sooner.

My dealer has drive-in service; you don't have to make an appointment, but they recommend it for most issues. If they can't deal with it while-you-wait, they reschedule it. It's great.

That's one of the reasons they have the highest ratings in this area on Dealerrater.com.

Just a guess here, but maybe the airbag recall is inundating dealerships.

A case of too much success, I think.
My dealer seems to ALWAYS have a long line at the service advisor's bays and it takes a week about to get an appointment for anything more complicated than an oil change.

Two hours here for something trivial for an oil change at the only dealer in town.

Generally I offer to drop it off in the afternoon when they aren't busy and pick it up the next day. They will drive me back home if they have anyone around. Never a second trip for an issue that wasn't resolved the first time because there really haven't been any.

No idea what the wait would be if I needed senior tech attention to an issue. But haven't heard of any an at least 25% of my friends have at least one Toyota and they complain about everything else so I would have heard.
