My husband is convinced that our dogs' nails will tear the softex and he wants to get cloth seats. Thoughts? Anybody here have dogs with long nails (we trim but they grow SO FAST) and if so, do you think they would tear the seats? We plan on getting a dog cover for back seat, but still, there is a good chance they would jump into front seat.

More likely you'll see damage with cloth seats than with Softex. Softex is extremely durable, and amazingly easy to clean up.
I fold the back seat down and throw a commercial door mat (4x6) over the whole back end. The only contact they have with Softex is the back of the front seats. But I've had zero issues. With the v, there's a 1+ ft wide space between the back seats and the front which seems to act as a natural barrier to them getting in front. They do occasionally wind up falling in to that hole though.

Seriously, get Softex. Cleaning dog slobber off it is a breeze.

I have a westie and have had no issues thus far with the softex.

Granted I throw a towel down on the seat but I have forgot a time or two without issue.

Westie and Basenji. Softex has proven to be quite durable and easy to clean. Given a choice, I would pick softex over either leather or cloth.

Please get the dog cover. I'm speaking on behalf of all the people who ride in your vehicle and are too polite to mention how disgusting it is to sit on a seat embedded with dog hair and dog smell. Thank you in advance. :)

Softex just wipes off. Can't really be embedded with fur unlike the cloth seats. :)

We decided on fabric, but mostly because the Persona edition i wanted was 9,000 more (we got a deal on a 2014). I am getting custom removeable canvas seat covers which should be ready in 2 weeks.until then, i am being super careful.

My god; $9000 price difference from fabric to softex!!!??

I opted for the Persona over the prius lift back 2 just because it was only like 2k diff and then there is the side view blinker heated mirrors, the softex, the better stereo, the rear cam, the gunmetal 17's and I think a couple other things....

I am an expat Canadian, so are you talking loonies here?? I know we are at a all time low now but darn...No way is there a 9k diff for softex....
