Luckily non OPEC nations are loosening OPEC's grip.
Now, what, in the USA, are we going to do about the Dealer cartel?

When Standard Oil was broken up, it seems to have had an effect, opposite to increasing competition:

    excerpt from Wikipedia:
Standard's president, John D. Rockefeller, had long since retired from any management role. But, as he owned a quarter of the shares of the resultant companies, and those share values mostly doubled, he emerged from the dissolution as the richest man in the world. The dissolution had actually propelled Rockefeller's personal wealth.

What the government fails to do for us, dealerrater.com and google reviews can help.

Here is an excellent start to the standard oil story.
A History of the Standard Oil Company and its successors
But the break up probably provided better service to consumers and faster growth than the old monopoly. The statements of course are true, we need to learn from history. The nixon price controls and carter wind fall profits tax really ended up stregthening opec and hurting american interests. The problem when nixon slapped on price controls was not that oil was too expensive, it was that it was too cheap and americans were getting addicted. Nixon fed the adicts with both price controls on oil and natural gas, as well as tarrifs to import more fuel efficient cars.

The claim was protecting the american people from big bad oil companies, but what it did was act as a drug dealer to the OPEC oil cartel.

It's like buying a computer; the longer you wait, the better it will be and the better the price.

1 year away would make it a 2015 model.
Tesla has this bizarre issue where they call a car built in 2015, a 2015 car;)

lol you mean like EVERYWHERE else in the World?

Always thought it strange that my 2009 built gen3 is classed as a 2010 in the US even though it could have been sold in June 2009. Strange.

That just means I can save that much more money now for my plug-in vehicle I'll be buying in the future.
