Had my inverter replaced after Prius would not go in ready mode. Mileage was 59k replaced through warranty. Received letter for extended warranty about 90 days later. My wife and I live in Wadsworth, Ohio. We also have a 07 Prius that has been fantastic. 165k of trouble free driving.

2011 Prius (in service date of 7/2011, and it was fresh off the cargo ship). Purchased in Thomasville, GA. Did the recall in the middle of April in Charleston, SC--- which I regret. Car performance is horrible, and I am getting significantly less MPG. I received the warranty extension letter yesterday (11/20/2014). Planning on selling my Prius soon. There is no point in driving it the way it runs anymore.

There are some on here that had similar issues after having the EOE recall completed. They took their cars back and the dealers were able to determine that the software upgrade was not completed correctly. After re-performing the upgrade the issues were resolved. So if you have not done so take it back to the dealer and show them how the performance has declined since the recall.

The only difference that most notice is the lack of quick acceleration when you punch the accelerator. The upgrade added a ramp function to the Boost Converter circuit to limit the rate-of-rise of current to MG2 during acceleration.

I've tried calling both dealerships near me. Neither one had any interest in re-doing the update. I know that $100-150 isn't really a horrible price to pay to have it done again myself, but it's the principle of it.

I'm one of those people who has logged every single fill up I have ever done. I have a spreadsheet that shows my MPG for every tank of gas - both hand calculated and the reading from the dash. I mainly did this to prove to myself how much money I was saving over my 2005 V8 4Runner. It's had the added benefit of helping me determine that something is definitely wrong with the car now. I can get somewhere near my original MPG if I try REALLY hard. We're talking driving like grandma here.

I have a 24 mile round trip drive that I take a few times a month. It's a relatively flat road with hardly any stop signs or lights. It used to be able to bang out 60-65 MPG. Now .. I'm lucky if I can hit 50-52 MPG.

The issue is that I got new tires within 18 days of doing the software update. So --- was it the tires or the update? I had Ecopia EP20s on the car, and that's exactly what I replaced them with. I didn't want to take the chance of seeing a change in MPGs by going to different tires.

Anyhow --- I'm rambling ... and, this post is probably better suited for the thread that is discussing the update and not the warranty extension.

The tires are probably a good part of the reduction. You just went from low tread depth to full tread depth with the new tires. That is going to have an impact until you get some mileage on the new tires.

I've got about 7000 miles on these tires so far. I think this is why my mileage isn't as bad when I first got the recall (about 20% lower as opposed to the 10% lower it is now).

We are in both camps. Had the blue 2010 ( made in March 2010) recall done back in April but never received the warranty extension Notice. Had the red 2010 (made in November 2010) recall done last week and got the extension letter a week later. Maybe the problem is VIN specific and between March and November they changed Inverter controller board designs, with the newer ones prone to solder cracking problems ??

As part of the software upgrade the Techs also ran a test to determine the condition of the solder joints. I have wondered if the test was analyzed and the letters sent based on the results of the tests?

Another may be that the majority of owners took their cars in quickly resulting in a massive amount of data to analyze and send out letters. Those that took it in later may have avoided the rush and received letters quicker ???

I can tell one thing my 2010 Prius was totalled by Sandy (in 2012 of course) WAY before recall/update ... and got the ZE3 letter about 1 month ago!!!

My current 2012 Prius had the recall/update in April of this year and got the letter on Wendnesday (26 November) so go figure ... but surely not depend on the recall/update performed.

    cheers

Your 2012 follows the 7 month scenario. Your 2010 must be that Toyota does not know that the car is no longer in service.
