Picked up a silver Prius Four over the weekend. Barely getting to know it but so far so good (I have gotten to work and back successfully). Haven't gotten a chance to look through the manual so not sure of all the tricks and nuances yet. Actually just discovered the smart locking sensor thingy this morning. If anyone has any other insight on tricks of the trade, please pass them along.

Well, congratulations from here also! Smart choice of car, and you've come to the right place to learn all you'll ever need to know (and even more) about your new Prius! Posting your location might be useful (to others in your locality) and pictures are always welcome (gives us all something over which to drool, and you something to swell your pride!) - Wil

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. And I do have a silly question. Is there a way to open the hatch from the inside? I drop off my kids in the morning and would like to open the hatch for them to grab their backpacks.

If not, does the car need to be in park for the sensor thing on the hatch to function? Seems like my 11 year old was able to open it yesterday but I had to get out today?

    Thanks.

I think you might need to hit the door unlock button on the armrest to unlock the hatch so your 11 year old can open it.

Welcome to the club! If you're looking for tips and tricks, get comfy because this place is full of them. Make sure you set time aside to read through the manual. At least once. There are actually good tips right there in the manual.

welcome! my first week, I remember I went to the store and the Prius told me my keys were in the car and did not want to "Smartlock" through the handle. Best thing I learned from self-experience. And if the reverse consistent beep annoys you over time, just take it to dealer to have them program it out with an ELM :ROFLMAO:
