I also see that someone messed up the data. Mine is messed up too. I don't see an old copy in the Google Archive.

I checked to see if Sriram Chandrasekaran, who started the file, was still on PriusChat, but I didn't find him.

With all due respect to Ken who is doing this, there has to be a better way.

Well, I checked both the Form and the Spreadsheet links and Google says they no longer exist. Regardless I wonder if someone who might know what the most recent averages are/were of all the ICE and EV parameters/data might post just them so someone coming in years later can see how they have been doing with their own data?

Before I reset my lifetime data I'd like to understand what I can learn from it? Outside of basic trip mpg and seeing how hi I can get the current mpg up to when I do a lot of local driving using EV only before I have to take a trip I've done nothing yet to understand further what it all means. Is there any discussion on this to point to?

    Thank you.

I think the link to enter data is working and I entered all my accumulated stuff. However, I thought the HV miles of 11,683 which I feel is accurate + the EV miles of 2,534 (feels accurate) would equal the total miles entered of 4,217--obviously it doesn't and I'm only guessing that I accidentally cleared the 'B' trip once and have screwed things up. I think the EV and HV data is correct and if so wouldn't my total miles driven be 14,217... However that said how can it be exactly 10,000 miles ... ah, unless the 'B' trip miles doesn't include count over 9,999 mi. That must be it!

you must be right, i use a for tank and b for trip, so i've nevr gotten that high. at least it was a nice even number for you to figure out.(y)your stats look good susan! i pm'ed ken and asked him to move all the entries into the mpg sheet.

Yes, I'm pretty darn sure that's what happened. I divided the total trip B gallons into the total B miles and got 60.5 mpg which I'd say is well within any error being 0.5 gallons off of the trip B 60 gallons showing.

Now the real trick is what else can be calculated? I don't know how many times I filled up the tank nor do I monitor how many times I've charged the car up ~3.5 kWh each time. Oh, if 3.5 kWh is accurate and the total kWh is 819, then I've done that charge ~234 times. My power company charges me $0.070700. So those 819 kWh cost $57.33. I drove 2,534 mi for $57.33 so that works out to $0.023 -- 2.3 cents a mi. What else... I need to figure out a good average cost for fuel over the last year or so... tough to do.

What is the MPG sheet? Haven't I done that with the entries I made? :) Thanks for the help.

it's a tab at the bottom and you will then be listed with all the other entries. also, it will figure things like cents per mile and mpge for you. that will be at the right hand of the sheet, columns that say 'do not enter'you're all set susan. click on the mpg tab (bottom right of page) and scroll down, you're the last s. you will see the calculated columns on the right.

Okay, I found the mpg tab and the results. Interesting... Do these results point out anything significant that we need to address or get fixed? I can only gather from my results that is pretty typical. On a tank of gas running EV on battery around town I get way over 100 mpg but invariably there is a trip between towns with no charging until I return that drops this mileage down to 60 or below. Nothing I can do about that as I do not focus on all the hypermiling techniques.

The EV estimate miles is very consistently around 8 miles and often it is enough for errands around town. A year or two ago I talked to a Ford salesperson who said their hybrid would do almost twice that but I also remember members here claiming more then 8 miles too. What is the current tale on this and why can't Toyota allot more HV capacity for more miles on EV? Does more capacity simply not exist on the Prius while more really does exist to use on the Ford hybrid?

I will be switching Prius's again mid 2015 but might as well reset things for a last six months or so mpg report. Anyone know if the 2015 Prius improves on anything over the 2012 on mpg or anything else significant? Although I wish something better then the Prius would come along for less I never seem to find it.

    Thank you.

your stats are pretty typical, i don't think there is anything to fix. i suppose keeping track of things is more of a personality trait than anything else. some of us do, and some don't. once in awhile, when i have a question, it's nice to be able to go back and look up something.

as far as ev estimate, that is completely dependent on terrain, driving style and temperature. i can do 15 or 16 miles around town in summer, and 12 or 13 in winter. this is very slow driving with an average speed of 20 - 24 mph and very few stops. ford does make plug ins with more ev capacity, as does gm and honda. ev range is based on the size of the battery. because the pip was built on the existing prius chassis, there was only enough room for the size battery it has. that's why we lost the spare and the space under the hatch floor. ford has compromised their trunk space to put a larger battery in.

if you can wait until late 2016, the new version of the pip should be out with more ev capacity. as far as something better than the prius for less, it really depends on what you mean by better. hybrids and ev's are a mix of ev range, mpg, size and price.

Thanks. I probably should try once not exceeding 20 mph around town picking some side streets where possible but the long routes usually are posted 30 or 40 mph which makes it tough.

I've driven in a couple off-road situations briefly where picking my way on dirt roads very carefully was essential and if I had wrecked a tire would have been more adventure then I was looking for even if I had the spare.

I won't be able to wait until 2016 unless Toyota gives out extensions to their leasebacks and maybe for this purpose? This certainly isn't a critical thing. And I get a 'break' of sorts anyway only having to pay $0.07 a kWh in Oregon--one wonders how long that will last.

BTW, wouldn't one's cost per kWh be an interesting difference to track on the mpg sheet? $0.12 is almost twice my $0.07 per kWh for the last couple years and $4.19 per gallon gas seems a little high for recent averaging though it might be about right for the ~14K mile trip data I entered?

absolutely. i pay .16/kwh. i suppose the purpose of a set price in the spreadsheet is so you can compare your efficiency to others. like an appliance tag.

I guess that's true. I was thinking I suppose of seeing both worlds. Comparing my Prius to everyone and seeing where I might excel more because I pay less for kWh or a low price for a tank of gas. Bottom line though is that I've driven the car going on 3 years now and haven't focussed on this subject once until now. :)

on row 17... how do you think 6.8 miles/ kwh was achieved? (14.6 kwh/100 miles).
    That's unusual. Walter
