I'd really think seriously about going elsewhere for another opinion on this. There is no disc that disengages the ICE from the transmission. In fact, it never disengages from the drive-train.

Maybe this is simplistic, but I'm just throwing my 2 cents in. Did you replace the ignition coils when you did the plugs? I remember putting a old Fiat back together wrong when I was young and initially getting the plug wires out of order. Felt like the car was coming apart. Of course, it was a Fiat...it WAS coming apart. Anyway, if you're grasping at straws, I just figured you could grasp at less expensive straws than the $2700 one first. I think you said it felt like misfiring...just wondered if maybe if a coil was failing.

It could be just that simple, I guess. Crossed wires.

Well, not likely crossed on the Prius because the lengths of the wires pretty much dictate where they should go, but perhaps one is failing. That's what I was guessing.

    Can't give up without explanation.
spoke with dealer today the part is transmission input damper however the car is definitely making a noise but they say they can't be sure. Or they don't want to be responsible if the cars not fixed properly. So basically I could be out a revised price of 2000
No codes were given just the noise and shaking when trying to hypermill.

There are 2 strange noises i here.
when i turn off car an wait there is a noise that happens all the time can't explain it. Well this noise happens sometimes when i go to put it in drive. Sorry
also the cars ice comes on for about 5 to 10 sec with no indicator lights while at a stop u can still drive but it's never happened before in 3 years, i guess my complaint is can this all be related to this input damper 2000 is a lot for no guarantee just to say now the trans axle has to be replaced.

i still think they are responsible, they put the new ice in and didn't replace the damper.

OK he got a new engine.

But lots of things connect to the engine and the shop can't just go replacing all of any of those items because they could fail. I know a shop that does that and you could buy a new car for the price of all the new improved parts you get when they do an engine replacement.

Just because he paid a lot for one part doesn't typically give him the expectation that every part will be new or that there won't be some random failure that can happen anytime.

    Remember things do wear out.

true, but how do you sort out the liars? what if they pull it apart and see they that they made a mistake? or maybe they made a mistake, but won't know that it was theirs when they see it.

    Final question
if the trans input damper is bad would it throw a code.
Again in my case no codes are given. I read it could be the axle.
    final thought. Thanks

Although it never disengages, there is a plate between the engine and the transmission that is almost the same make up as a clutch plate in a manual car, this is there to absorb sudden torque changes between the engine and trans.
