    Hi all,

So I have a 2009 metallic Prius and I just recently got into an accident. I ran over a fire hydrant. My front bumper went through a front collision. The left part of my front bumper is pretty much destroyed. Does anyone know the best way to repair and relieve this disaster? I'm assuming I'll most likely have to get an entire new bumper. No other part of the car is damaged so that's good. Any feedback would be so appreciated!

The left side of the car contains a pretty expensive coolant thermos. Do you have pictures of the damage?

Welcome to PriusChat! Unfortunately, there's probably a lot more unseen damage under the bumper cover and the bumper assembly once things come off the vehicle.

It's the left side if you're facing the car, right side of you're sitting in the passenger. 2 black things came off after the crash and I collected it. They were these two rubber pieces, one long and large, enough to fit under the bumper I suppose, and one small. When I came out to observe, there was a bit of a smoky scent. But what's interesting is after I had the collision, there was no sign or message from my dashboard saying something like a caution or emergency. The last time I got in a car accident a triangle with an exclamation point Inside It appeared letting me know that I just crashed my car basically

When you remove this damage bumper, you can see what damage is underneath. Taking the bumper off takes a few minutes. It's only held by a few clips and 1 screw on the fender.

BTW, that's the right side of your car.

Thank you so much. And xliderider thank you as well. How much do you guys think this will cost approcimately? I guess depending on if anything is damaged underneath. Glad it's the ride side not the left

Don’t you think that used one with the same color would match? It would be even cheaper just to buy that and install it.

edthefox5 and valde3 thank you two so much! That helps/makes me feel much better... Would I have to find a bumper from another prius of the same year as mine or pretty much any kind?

I believe there are minor differences in the front bumper design from one model year to the next. Consult toyodiy.com which is a Toyota parts numbering database.

Don't expect a used bumper cover (even if the correct color) to match color very well, there typically are slight variations in color shade with metallic paints. Also the used bumper cover may have incurred various dings and other damage from its prior use.

Further since bumpers are typically damaged in accidents, feel lucky if you can source any used front bumper cover, not to mention one that is in your car's color.
