All of the warning lights as well as the "Check Hybrid System" light came on my 2010 Prius III (127,000 miles) on my way home from work on Friday. The car went into "fail safe mode" and would not accelerate over 40 mph.

When I arrived at home I had a warranty enhancement letter from Toyota in the mailbox (odd timing) which described the incident perfectly. Apparently there is an issue with the intelligent power module. It's in the shop as of today for 2-3 days as parts have to be ordered.

Has anyone else had this issue? Mine was the first for my local dealer.

Many threads on here, search for Warranty Enhancement .

Have you had the EOE Software Update completed prior to this?

There have been reports of long lead times for the Inverter parts due to the number of failures that Toyota has been experiencing.

Is the dealer supplying you with a rental car? If not he should be.

Wow. Now I feel lucky. My 2010 Prius IV has "only" been at the dealership for 2-weeks. But it only had 61,000 miles when the hybrid system failure occurred. I like the car & had been thinking about buying another. But this whole experience makes me take pause. Although the dealership has given me a free rental -- a brand new Corolla with only 36 miles on it.

it's pretty unusual. in my 3 pri and 10 years, i haven't had any problems, but i don't blame you.

My car ended up being there for one month. The dealer did supply a Camry at no cost. I got the Prius back and traded for an Accord Hybrid touring the next day.

we had this recently: all of the warning lights as well as the "Check Hybrid System" light came on my 2010 Prius II (110,000 miles).

We had gotten the software update when it was issued (6 months ago?) but , still, got error codes that the transistors/inverter had a problem. The parts had to be ordered (1 day) and they fixed it in 3-4 hours. so 2-3 days in the shop.

What is "intelligent power module"? is that the same as the problem that I got? OK, according to the Toyota Owners Service data entered by my dealer, "REPLACE POWER MODULE INTELLIGENT TRANSISTOR KIT TAS". So....same issue?

I guess 4 years of the transistors under high temperature affected the transistors that the (delayed) software update was a little too late.

I was covered under the 8/150K hybid system warranty because I am in one of those 7 states covered by the extended warranty (CA, MA, RI, etc.). I wonder if Toyota will cover this issue for cars in states that do not have this extended warranty but see failures after the software update.
