I was referring to the newer models. Isn't the display on the newer generations moved even further right?
I have a 2008 and agree that the dash placement still isn't ideal.

Yes I believe the display is moved even further to the center in the later model.

I've been trying to find information on the 2016 model but the rumors are all over the place. It's sort of like guessing what the next iPhone will be like. Guess I'll just have to wait. If they don't have a different console design I will have to look elsewhere. I can live with the gauges, they just bug me though.

Why not move the gas guzzler Jeep to the 5k mile/yr duty and replace it with this next purchase. An accord or camry are better long distance cars (heresay!). You could compromise and get a used hybrid camry. Bisco, who has replied in this thread, uses theirs for long trips. Other than a small trunk (hybrid battery is in there), there is a lot to like about it.

I know the EPA numbers for a Prius place City gas mileage higher than highway.

But for me the reality is that the City driving usually turns out to have more Stop and Go...multiple short trips...which hurts the overall gas mileage.

So while I'm NOT complaining, The gas mileage is GREAT overall as a whole, my greatest numbers come from long drives. IMO The Prius is absolutely the greatest long road trip vehicle I have ever owned.

It's very liberating to be able to plan long, long road trips and know that fuel costs are going to be a minimal part of the equation.

My brother and his family recently moved about 300 miles from me. Mostly straight highway driving. I'm REALLY enjoying having a Prius to make those trips comfortable and economical.

Update!!! I am a nurse and work nights so I've been reading the posts but couldn't respond.

Last Thursday, 12, 18, 2014, we drove a 2011 Prius Three (not III as Roman Numerals were used for model year 2010) and a 2007 Prius Base (package 2, I think). We are now the proud owners of a Pine Green Mica 2007 Prius. We like the interior of the 2007 much better and the fools with the 2011 wanted a ridiculous price. Both very nice cars but I felt that we were getting a very good deal (below KBB) on the 2007.

1 owner, no accidents, 92,500 miles. The owner purchased from the same dealer where we purchased the car. Traded for another Toyota. Clean carfax, clean Toyota service history. New tires. After Christmas I will do a very thorough service to familiarize myself with the workings of the car.

We think that we will be very happy with this car. Thanks to everybody for the advice and I will continue to enjoy this site.
