Hey Everyone. First post on this board. I bought a new 2015 Prius and after 800 miles I am heading north to grandma's house which will double my mileage on the drive there.

Was thinking of replacing the headlamps with something brighter. Not Xenon where mods are required just a change of bulbs to something brighter. Thought the PutCo H11's (low) and the 9005 (high) would work. Got this part numbers from the website where the 2015 are not yet posted. Any help here? Was thinking of pulling the driver's side bulb (much easier than the passenger's from the YouTube video) and matching up the clip mount. Anyone know if they are the same 2014 and 2015 headlight bulbs?

And....if this were a new gas engine, and the ICE is, would it be wise to change out the oil and filter after 1000 miles, my thinking that the tiny bits of metal from the engine working itself against other new parts would be suspended in the oil/filter? Is that just too old school precautious?

Finally, I am out of a Mini Cooper Clubman S and I am learning to enjoy like in the slow lane, truly.
PS - my handle should read the low life, I play bass....

    Found the bulbs on Amazon....amazing..

Anyone care to comment on changing the oil after 1000 miles on a new engine?

My opinion is that it is a waste of money. The modem engines do not break in and shed metal bits like back in the good old days...

I have always changed out the oil/filter on any new car early, and recommend to those that ask. My target is usually 500-1,000 miles. The initial oil an engine (any engine) breaks in with will have higher metal content, sealant, moly/assy lube and a host of other things that is better "in the long run" to get rid of early...just like the ATF. How's the old saying go, a stitch in time saves nine. YMMV.

You could change your oil after only 1000 miles, but you'd be wasting money. Isn't the whole point of this car to save money...?

You want that ICE to run 150k miles, then you might spend $100 up front for the back end, IMO.

Pretty much the long version of my thoughts...howdy Frodo.

Since you asked, I consider the 1,000 mile oil change a waste on a modern engine.

My Prius's oil barely even smelled used at 1,000 miles.

Do it if you'll feel better in the long run. It won't cost much, particularly if you think long-term, and you can start using better-than-stock oil filters, like the TRD filters. Plus, you'll start learning about the underside of your vehicle.
