I have a 2006 Prius. After needing to replace both batteries, I drove my car home yesterday, from the mechanic (1 and 1/2 hour away), without issue.
Today, the dash light, rear camera and accompanying warning beep, did not work.
I appreciate any advice on how to fix this!!

    Thank you!

There are many dash lights, which are you referring to? If you mean that the speedometer, gas gauge, shift indicator, etc are all off, then it could be that you have the Combination Meter (CM) failure that is quite common. Toyota issued an extended warranty on that part, and will replace it.

If the Multi Function Display (MFD) is not working, then it can be repaired, or replaced with a new unit.

What happens when you put the car in drive?

Yes, the speedometer, gas gauge, etc. are off. The funny thing is that it was working fine last night when I drove the car home.
The car drives normally. Could it be a fuse? Or the system needs to be reset to the new battery?

It is not a fuse, I have had three calls this week from customers with the same problem and have one of my own cars doing the same thing.

This is a problem with the combination meter as nh7o has stated. It starts out as an intermittent problem and usually shows up on a cold morning and as it warms up may go away. It will get progressively worse and will be difficult to turn off your car. You will need to hold the power button for 4 or 5 seconds sometimes to power off and sometimes it just goes to accessory mode and you have to power on and off again.

The extended warranty is 9 years unlimited mileage. Take a video of this happening because typically when you get to the Toyota dealer it will be working perfectly and they will tell you they can't duplicate your problem.

So, this issue has nothing to do with replacing the battery pack, just a coincidence. I will look into the warranty and take a video, as you suggested. Thank you!

I believe my VIN falls in the range that is covered under the warranty. I'll confirm tomorrow.

Mike- thank you for the ebay link. It's good to know, in case I need to go that route.

I have just experienced the exact same issue today. No dash display, unable to turn off the car, etc. After trying many times, I was able to turn the car off. This happened quite a few times during the day. Then display came back and now the car is operating normally again. Should I be worried? It is 2006 model with VIN number: JTDKB20U263172068. Is it covered within the recall? All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

No. That never does any good.

When the display is not working, you can hold the power button down for a few seconds and the car will shut off. Take it to the dealer and they will sort you out.

In my 2005 I can dim the dash lights all the way to off. The center display can also be turned off. Probably not it unless you have kids that play in the car.

Took the car to Longo Toyota (El Monte, CA) this morning. The combination meter issue was identified within a couple minutes without even having to demonstrate this rarely occurring problem. There is no charge for the meter replacement, which will take a few days, mainly waiting for the arrival of a new meter with the correct mileage burned in. The dealer provided a free rental car until it is fixed.

Good for you. That Service Writer/Dealer wanted the easy free money.

Good to know of another location that will make the warranty/service campaign happen w/o having to go through hoops.

If you didn't have a new 12V battery, I would say to disconnect the front panel harness on the 12V for 1 minute, plug back in, and try it again.
