Thanks, I found the T-SB-0064-12 number but not a copy over the internet. I just sent Toyota an email whether it is covered by the certified pre-owned warranty.

Strangely this problem is come and go. Today I tried hard to reproduce it in Eco, normal or power mode and all different combination of throttle. It just doesn't rattle.

I tried to capture mine with my phone but it didn't seem to work out. I did notice when I had someone in the passenger seat it went away.

The same thing just happened to me... I took my 2010 IV in for the recall and this noise started immediately thereafter. I have a call into the service manager right now. Have you had any discussions with Toyota yet?

I have a 2013 Prius Three (7500 miles) and have had the same fluttering, pinging-type noise upon hard acceleration since about 2500 miles. I haven't been to the dealer yet (assume they will say its normal or they don't hear it) but it doesn't sound normal for a new car and I don't recall hearing it on the test car or during the first 2500+/- miles. Acceleration doesn't seem stunted but the car SOUNDS like it's struggling (or like a 1989 Chevy that needs an oil change!). The noise seems most common when taking off from a complete or almost complete stop with any mild incline involved. I originally thought it was every time, but after reading on here about other's noticing it after the car warms up, I also noticed that it's only happening (typically) after I've been driving 10-15 minutes. Also, it's definitely louder when running the AC. I would love for someone to confirm if this is normal Prius sounds/operation or if there is something to be concerned about.

Thanks for the info. I took mine in for the buzzing noise on the passenger side covered by this TSB. However, there is another noise while WOT accelerating. It's like rapid ticking.

So did they actually perform the TSB or not? I am unable to reproduce the noise today because it is warming up. It was pretty bad last week, here is a video I took. From 30s to 50s.

It's really not temperature related...I watched your video and it's inconclusive as your camera/phone is pointed the wrong way. It needs to be aimed at the passenger small triangle window as that's where the noise originates. Also, you were in the PWR zone allot and at least I was only able to duplicate the noise when the HSI was 3/4 the way towards PWR. The noise has a buzzing-rattle to it and others have really done a good job of capturing the defect on video.

If you had the TSB done, you should notice a big difference, especially as you approach the 3/4 mark on the HSI. Once at that point, slightly accelerate but not into PWR and then back off the pedal. Do this repeatedly in that zone. If it's not fixed, you should hear the "buzzle" noise.

I have been trying around different zones to get the noise out. Most of the time it's at the 3/4 mark but that night it's different. I hope the dealer will take the video as the evidence.

Ok, My 12" is rough as well on a heavy load and it acts like this.

    1. The engine rattles going uphill or entering the power zone. The vibration is felt on the gas pedal as well.

    2. When the battery is low (2 bars), the engine gets very rough and loud, rattles as well.

    3. The dash rattle noise is sort of happens as well, but not always.

Ours actually turned out to be a bracket on the fire wall that holds the coolant lines, or at least that's what the dealer told us. They retapped the holes and put new bolts in the bracket and it has been silent ever since. Going on over 10k miles without this annoying noise. We almost traded the car because they never could fix it. After 4 tries I made the service mgr and head tech ride with me for 50 miles so I made sure they could hear what I was hearing.

I honestly have no clue. They didn't show me, only wrote up what they did.

Sounds like you were lucky to find a service manager who gave two cents about your satisfaction while under warranty.

My guess is that I would have to pay by the hour to get that kind of commitment.
