Done! Overnight shipping is nice (if unnecessary given it adds to the cost). The experience was mostly flawless and while I paid more than I intended (tires + shipping + installation), I may not even have the vehicle by the time I reach their EOL. Got to take advantage of an Ebates ~$15 cashback (3%) bonus, so every little bit helps. I don't have any complaints about the handling, but this is the Prius we're talking about (not exactly renowned for such), and I'm not that picky in that dept. Anxious to see how these compare fuel economy-wise to the OEMs after break-in.

Figured I would share what I find out. Obviously each has a rim width with which they are compatible, so check before ordering to make sure they will be compatible (especially 7.5" and 8"rims). Has anyone tried this, and does it have a measurable effect on FE?

With gas prices they way they are, LRR tires are much less effective at keeping costs low vs. a very high treadwear tire like the Defender. Hmmm

So I am getting about the same MPG maybe a little lower /maybe/with the new on the rear. Front is the big answer for any tire. That will be at 9K.

I am worried about the low gas prices taking people off the goal. Gas taxes are not the answer but MPG standards are the answer. 4X4s with one passenger commuting to work has to be taxed off the road.

Very true, maybe I'll stop my search for third party carbon-ceramic brake kits and electro-polished wheel bearings ;)

Yes, everyone, the Michelin Energy Saver A/Ss. With the anticipated gas prices through 2015, I can see the argument for the Defenders or the like, but I would hope to get at least 5 years on these tires, and there will eventually be an upward trend of said energy prices.

Yes, but: what's more important, the bottom line in $'s, or mpg bragging rights?

(not that I've got much to brag about )

OK/MPG may have gone up a bit so I ordered two more MIJ 20s. My wife says hers rides to rough at 44 PSI so I may go gone to 40 on hers.

I have a 2010 Prius IV in need of new tires. I have searched through many pages of this post and it seems the Michelin Energy Saver a/s are the way to go. I currently have the original 195 65 15's. I really want a nice quiet ride, without losing mpg. I also live in Palm Springs CA where our temps are well over 100 for 5 months out of the year. Is there a better tire for my driving conditions? Please keep in mind I still would like to keep the ride quiet. Thanks for any suggestions.

Check out the ecopia ep 20. These came on my 2014 Prius. They are a very FE tire and only come in the size you have. Very guiet, and good handling . I have had 4 other brands and I personally like the ecopia over all the others. They are available at Walmart. H

Thanks for your reply. I currently have Escopias as OEM, but haven't been pleased with tread wear. At just under 40k I do not have much tread left. Have you tired the Energy Saver a/s?

Ome tires never last. I think they give car manufactures a low grade product. hal

They usually have a lower traction rating too. :(

Yes I have tried energy saver. Very good tire, but expensive. I do better with the Ecopia ep 20. Hal
