I am guessing it is the same as my 2010. I put in Husky Floor Liners and just grabbed the long part of the hook and pulled it up. It unsnapped with no damage.

The Weathertech floor liners fit right onto those pegs and lock in place.

I would humbly suggest keeping the hook installed, and buying a floor mat or liner that utilizes it's existence.

But if you are dedicated to its removal? A few sticks of dynamite should do it.

I got them removed, basically had to break the retaining underside clip. There was no way I could get to the small clips that hold the white underside piece. On the Prius lift back, they just snapped out, but they were the hook type. I needed to take them out so that I could put some silicone in the mat holes; the snow/water was leaking through and making a mess of the rug. Done.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. One doesn't need to remove anything for the Husky Liners to fit. They fit right over the "hooks" in a certain orientation.

I ordered the Husky Weatherbeaters last night. I see that they have recesses for the twist retainers....oh well. I guess I can try to get new retainers. I just don't understand that stupid cutout design. I have since put duct tape there to extend the wall and to hold over until the Husky's get here Friday. I wonder if all Weathertech liners have that design if there is a gas cap release there? The passenger side liner without the cutout works just fine. Done with Weathertech, used them in the last 5 vehicles. I hope the tape mod holds until Fri.
