Toyota Care started in 2010 so all maintenance was on the buyer for Gen2 beyond whatever coupons were received from the dealer. Toyota only lists dealer provided service so don't count on that for documenting regular maintenance but it is good for the big ticket items and warranty work.

I was putting 20000 miles per year on my 2010 for the first 4 years or so.

The oil was changed every 10000 miles on my 2006. There were a number of threads here about used oil analysis and my conclusion was that a 5000 mile interval was too conservative.

    No problems with either car.

I checked on the 07 with supposedly new battery and it turns out it's not "brand new" like they said, it's some restored version. So that car's out

Now I'm between the 08 and the 06 supposedly Touring but not. For fun, here is the Toyota servicing history for the 06:

2006 - It's a shame that the last 40K isn't logged. Any chance you can get more info there?

The 06 is through the current owner not a dealer, which is nice. Not sure what kind of info to ask? I've asked about transaxle fluid change and he hasn't really responded affirmatively, but otherwise he said it has been maintained regularly and premium products apparently, like Mobil 1 oil changes.

Ask for the records since 48K...specifically any major repair, but also evidence of proper maintenance. Current condition of key components: tires, 12v battery, brakes, etc. Some of this you will be able to discern when you look at it. Ask if the owner will let you take it to an independent shop for pre-sale inspection.

One more option, guys. An '04 with 104000 miles: $5900

I was kind of liking this one because I think the price is decent and even if I had to replace the battery at some point I'd be pretty comfortable financially, whereas that would be tougher with the $8000 '08.

If anyone has quick thoughts I'd appreciate and here is the Toyota service report: db.tt/0LUFvYQy

Trying to discern as best I can from just reports and price, mileage, etc because most of these are at least an hr away so I'd prefer to travel to just one or two not all.

Still leaning towards the '08, is there anything in particular you like about that year as opposed to, say, the '06?

'04 is more than 10 years old. It's seen 10+ years of weather and wear. And the HV battery has 10+ years on it. And even if it has been garaged and perfectly maintained, it's nowhere near up-t0-date features-wise. Get a 4-year newer '08. My 2 cents.

i had one, and my daughter has it now. 100,000 miles nothing but routine maintenance and recalls. it's like brand new. '08's seem to have none of the issues you read about here with the '05's, '06's and 07's.
