I made a short video showing how to drain, refill and bleed the inverter coolant system.

Thanks for asking. I hope it will play... I posted it to YouTube and embedded the video here on PriusChat by pasting in the link to the video. Let me know if you have trouble seeing it and I will try to help.

Thanks for the videos. Especially seeing the realities of running the pump. Very informative.

If I may: use a bigger funnel next time? ;)

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I could have used a bigger funnel -- that's a great idea! Thanks! All I had at hand was the inexpensive pack of four funnels available from Harbor Freight for about $1.00, so I used the biggest one in that set.

Thank you, jreed! I asked for this video of inverter coolant change on your other video of engine coolant change. And then I saw it. So, thank you very much. I really enjoyed watching your video, your calm voice has me convinced that I can do this job as well. Would you do a video on transaxle oil change?

Also, if you do another video, please show us how you put your car on a jack, how to prep it, etc... Much appreciated!

Thanks again for the positive feedback. I actually did change the transaxle oil during the same weekend, but I didn't think to make a video. The next time I do the job, I'll make one... but it may be some time (50k miles!). In the meantime maybe somebody else will post one.
    :)

    Hi jreed!

If you ever change the water pumps, for both ICE and electric, would you make a video and put it on the forum? Thank you very much! I get inspired from watching your videos.

    Thanks Stonerider!
I appreciate the positive feedback! I changed the ICE water pump with a new Toyota OEM pump about 50K miles ago after it started weeping coolant out of the weep hole. At the time I didn't know how important it was to set the right amount of tension on the belt that drives the water pump, and I over-tightened the belt. Soon afterwards (about 10k miles) the new water pump started weeping coolant. I bought a second new OEM pump and installed it. This second time I set the belt tension quite a bit looser, and it has been working fine since (about 40k miles so far) with no problems.
