I started a new job recently and I'm looking for a good mobile phone holder for my 2006 Prius. I have Nav, but I can't see paying $250 for a new nav DVD when its old and outdated anyway. I want one that will be easy to mount and not get in the way. Any suggestions.

    PS
    Long time to see.

PSS I have an iPhone 6+

proclip. mounts above vent over shifter. kinda pricey unless you find one used on ebay, but it works perfect.

Hated putting my phone in the cup holder, Here's the solution....

RAM Mount Universal X-Grip Lite Suction Mount RAP-B-166-2-UN7U

Ram Mount Suction to the bottom of the dash. Just make sure you clean any residue like armor all etc with alcohol and this boy stick fine!!

Like the way it rotates the way i need it, compatible with alot of other ram products. My charging cable goes in the bottom and into arm rest for a clean look.

I have a iphone 6, They make a larger mount for the 6+.

I use that X-Grip thing mounted to the handle bars of my motorcycle with a ball mount and u bolt to hold my cell phone or my Garmin Gps.

I can recommend it fully and attest that it will hold above electronics w/o issue up to and over 120mph.......on a closed course in Mexico ;)

So in other words it will do just fine mounted in a Prius.

I don't even bother with mounts and all that jazz. I just "wedge" my phone between the bottom of the radio and the lid to the pocket under the radio with the lid open.

I use Waze all the time and mounted low isn't an issue and easy when i need report stuff. I can probably mount to my windshield but the window to dash is so far away. I also didn't want to mount a disc on the dash via double sided tape. ~out of sight and out of mind. Looks cleaner without the cords dangling down. but on the passenger side i mount my Escort Radar to the passenger cig lighter. Yea, who needs a radar detector in Prius? THIS GUY!!! Lol

I figure most cops think their radar gun needs calibrating if a prius is speeding. most folks assume we all drive like grannies. little do they know... detectors are illegal in VA or I might have one.

Depends on what you mean by "get in the way". Personally, I always prefer my nav/gps systems on the windshield, either lower center or lower left corner as it reduces the distance my eyes have to travel from the road.

I bought this a couple years ago at Five Below (for $5, of course). Works best on windshield, but can probably also do just fine on the relatively flat dash of a Prius.

Simple and easy, and the best phone mount I've owned under $30. (the $30 Tomtom phone/gps holder was nicer, but cost 6x as much so when it was stolen a year ago, we didn't replace it) Sometimes they have other colors, too. The design is simple, and unlike most inexpensive phone holders, this one doesn't have a long neck that easily falls off. The holder can spin 360 degrees, and an easy-to-use push button on the side (not shown) causes the holder's side arms to expand pretty significantly (i haven't measured it, but probably about 3-4" ; it can hold nearly any phone or most smallish GPS systems. It's only ever fallen off during periods of rapid temperature change and high heat, but only a couple times. Impressive for $5.

If you don't have a Five Below near where you live, I'd go with the X-grip above, or maybe the Tomtom mount, which is sold at Target.

[IMG] I think the Nimbus mount is the way to go. I use it everyday with my Note II.

I don't use the CD player because I have bluetooth so I used the nTek Groove. Proclip is solid and works really well, but the price was too high for its function.
