so this is what it's like to be a mod at PC

When I've moderated at other sites, most of my energy was in site promotion - few if any special privileges were involved. A lot of people have the same fallacies about moderators as managers - they are hired bullies...moderators don't even make money. But the point is moderators are spending their time promoting. Yes I banned a lot, but it was because sites I was at did not set up effective spam guards....99% or more of the bans were mindless spammers, most of the rest were obvious trolls hissing and spitting. Who is going to come if you run off members?

 

Now that I'm officially a "bad egg" I'll just say my piece. I may check in now and again, but I've lost a lot of enthusiasm to tell the truth.

I guess my biggest disappointment is the profound lack of respect for others' opinions that I've seen expressed here. Apparently an unpopular opinion on a particular topic will earn you hateful treatment. No problem, I learned a lot about the Prius in my time here, but it's time to move on to friendlier and more respectful surroundings.

C'ya, the funny thing is that the hateful treatment comes from the people that swear they're the most tolerant.

 

Ok now that Greg P has said his goodbyes, was that really his own picture as his avatar? Or is that a famous person or something? I could never figure it out. But the avatar picture looks familiar to me.

I've moderated on two forums. One was an absolute handful due to the typical member's age being in the low to mid twenties. The other had a slightly older average age for members, and was starkly easier to manage as a result. I have to believe that the average age of a Prius owner is fairly high (45?), which I'd expect should translate to a fairly well-behaved group.

 

I wasnt asking anything that needed defending. Im wondering if anybody knows - was/is his avatar his real picture or not?

I had a post deleted for posting the natl. Debt per person in the good ol' USA in a thread that went off topic and was talking about finances at that point.

I learnt my lesson and shall never post that garbage or anything relating to it again.

Water off my back. No biggie. Keep trudging on I say.

I was gonna pm the mod involved for clarification as to where the stated correct thread is to post "political" stuff but it seems that one cannot pm here (or is that what "start a conversation" is for?) as the mods profile in question could not be viewed by a regular member it seems.

Either way it's all good and I can understand the need to keep it all civil. ______ bless and see ya'll next thread....

Be nice, guys... just because someone's "style" doesn't really fit the forums (apparently) doesn't mean that we want them to think that Prius=unkind forums. Leave that to the 4x4 & jeep forums!

Truly, though, if you join a forum, and less than a year into it, you still are having issues with members who have been there for over five - or ten! - years, maybe it IS you. Just maybe. Think about it.

I'm tired of BS. I spend most of my forum life over at FC (sure, pm me). And way less of that.
