If you were going to install SAT radio into an 2005 ... what option would be best?

    1. Getting the kit from the PriusChat shop?
    2. Getting the kit from the dealer for a Solara?
    or
    3. Getting the SCC1/SL3 kit

Price doesn't matter all that much ... I just want the kit that works the best. Love to hear what other folks have been doing lately on this. I have NAV and the 6-disc JBL but no aux input.

    Thanks!

I went with option #3. I talked with a few folks that did this and it seems to be working just fine. Kit just arrived and will be installing it this weekend.

Today I did the install of the SoundLinq SL3s and the Sirius SCC1 interface and adapter. Overall, I had it installed and completed within an hour or so. Tearing apart the dash was alot simplier that I thought it was going to be.

Overall I am pretty satisfied - the volume level and sound quality is perfect, full integration with the MFD and overall it's a simple kit. I didn't have to buy different parts and pieces from different places. The antenna was easy to deal with too; I have it going out the back hatch and hidden the wire under the door sills.

The kit was about $220 which I believe was well worth it. I would have much preferred to purchase from the PriusChat Store, but couldn't get anyone to return my emails I had regarding the kit offered. Oh well ...

Here is some pictures. Hopefully this will help someone else who is looking for an integrated look & feel of Sirius/XM satellite radio.

Thank you for this previous post. There is not much active talk on Priuschat about this topic. I plan on getting the product that is out these days, the SL3 SAT tuner kit with the SXV200 tuner included. That will allow the JBL system in our 2004 Prius to integrate with SiriusXM. I hate spending the $260 for the unit -- but will install it based on your post, and at least save on that part of the operation.

I put the sat antenna underneath the dash plastic cover as forward toward the engine compartment as possible and it works just fine.

Thanks for your reply. I am now leaning more toward installing an aux input and hainvg options like Spotify for music in the Prius. This would seem to keep more options open as far as audio streaming programs and there is always SiriusXM's online as an option. The trick is shopping for the right aux kit -- whether that is the SL3U, by Vais, or something else. Looking into that today, on this snow day off in Maryland!
