Better to install an audio system that has the maximum volume setting of 11 instead of the plain ordinary 10! :)

Then maybe wire an engine induction sound acoustic pickup from BMW into the audio system...:p

But then again who am I to say anything? As a kid had to have a playing card clothes pinned into the spokes on my bicycle... and when my Dad wasn't looking, I'd take an old piece of bicycle inter-tube and stretch it over the end of the exhaust pipe on his pickup truck.... that tail pipe "extension" made more interesting sounds than the usual chrome one!

Exactly. That's giving the consumer what they want, and doing it cost-effectively.

why would you wire in the farty sound of a kraut mobile instead of a big block? bmw's are the most over-rated junk ever. unless you like oil leaks, cheap plastic in the engine compartment, and counter intuitive controls.

American carbureted high compression V8's make music.

Naw... merican V8 ain't big enough to make that deep throated rumble I like to hear :).. Needs 567, 645 or 710 cubic inches... umm that is per cylinder.. and needs at 12 if not 16 or heaven forbid 20 cylinders to make that deep throated sound... EMD 710 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

putcher headphones on the listen to this.. nice supercharger groan under load when he pours the coal on near the end...

comes with supercharger standard.. but the ones with turbosuperchargers make the best sound...

hear that turbo sing....... good for high altitude work crossing the Rockies and Sierra Nevadas.....

I know waaaay off topic... well maybe not.. seems to be largely in the male DNA to enjoy hearing iron (and aluminum) making power..... round piston engines sound nice too! How many of us as kids just had to take the muffler off the lawnmower or tractor..

my loyal mechanic changed his mind about switching out the mufflers, I don't think he had the piping and he was afraid of throwing off the comp, looks like I'm going to have to go to a muffler shop, stay tuned

Had an issue with some old folk trottin thru the middle of the parking lot in front of me and always with no care in the world about being in the middle where the cars drive..in parking lot with the slow speed they never hear me creep up behind them. So I'll step on the brake and gas at the same time which kicks the ICE on. When the DC header and MagnaFlow exhaust compulation comes to life, they quickly scoot out of the way.

You may need to really rework the piping on that scion exhaust to make it work under the prius. The layout is completely different especially with our spare tire configuration.

the spare tire seems to be the issue, also that damn spare tire areas isn't big enough to hold a full size spare so its pretty much useless, and scaring old people and small children are what cars should be doing.

nfw will that exhaust fit. you might be able to use the muffler if its got an opening on the other side, but your gonna need a custom pipe bent.

The issue i see is that it has the inlet and outlet on the same side. How do you plan on piping that in/out ?

I'm not sure midas said no, and my mechanic is on the fence if he could do it, after he originally told me he could, at this point I wonder if im better off paying the $300 to have midas put on the proper muffler

'Proper muffler' ..? You can pick up a MagnaFlow muffler for less than $100 - the remainder wld be for materials and labor.

I guess from doing research the magnaflow 14614 seems to be the best, any other ideas?

Yup. That's the one I linked on eBay. From the Headers thru both catalytic converters and resonator the piping is 2" - once it passes the resonator and does a slight turn down before the gas tank the piping is reduced to roughly 1.75" piping. Just keep that in mind when you go to have the muffler welded in. If you mount this Magnaflow 6" round muffler in the OEM muffler location, your muffler welder will need to weld on a flange to adapt the piping size change.

I 'had' two of those mufflers - I was selling them for $40 each 2 months ago.
