what does running at 44psi do for the tires? does it harm at all? I've had my prius 3 for 7 months now...

it will inflate the tires more causing the tires to have less friction with the road thus giving the car more MPG. the downside is that the tires will wear more from the center and most importantly, the ride quality will suffer and make the car have a much harsher ride.

The ride quality will improve for those who like a 'sports car feel' of the road. Granted, youll feel every crack in the pavement but on twisty roads the tire carcass wont roll over and give you a 'spongy' feel to the ride.
When driving on twisty roads, the tires will wear more from the outside-in because the carcass rolls a lot, placing the cars weight on the outside of the tread. In this case, over-inflating the tires will make the middle of the tread more rounded-out so itll carry more of the cars weight and wear out the center in time with the outer tread wear, giving an even wear over the whole tread face.
However, over-inflation strains the internal cords of the tires with expansion- Blue wheels chrome nuts.JPG pressure. In that strained condition the cords are more susceptible to bruising from impacts with the road cracks and stones, so i wuddent over inflate unless i was going on a long freeway drive where i wanted the extra mileage or else i was driving in the Kentucky hills and i wanted a stiff, sure-footed response to all those curves.

except for the excellent rain responses, i couldn't stand the way the car handled at normal inflation pressures. and the front lip kept catching on the curb where i park. when i took it to the max 44psi on my Bridgestone Turanza EL400 tires, much changed. i can skid it at low speed in traffic now (YES !!!). and burn out to dig out to change lanes when necessary. the suspension now acts like itz supposed to, turning when i want without the time delay. and the front lip doesnt catch the curb anymore. theres some advisements about keeping the rears 2psi lower than the fronts but i never got that memo. i dont give a d-mn if the tires wear out in a year as long as right now the tires do what i want them to when i want them to.
and the Turanza EL400 still give EXCELLENT rain response. i would buy them again.
i am continuing to learn about the car more, keeping the battery charged up by riding the brakes etc.,,, the zero to 30mph times are awesome,,, then it becomes a slug,,, hahaha,,, good fun
ok getting ready for hurricane Julio here in Hawaii.

Kingnba6, Do you have more info/pics of how you installed the Highlander Radio - any loss/gain of features? Your ride is looking pretty badass. are you gonna blackout the head/tail lights?

the highlander radio install was pretty simple. all i needed was the radio itself and the faceplate which was made by JToress (who is no longer selling it). all the features remained the same with the addition of touch screen. all the stock features worked the same as the original radio.

as for blacking out the headlights, thats a no. ive never been a fan of that. i will however either get red tail lights or just install some red vinyl on the oem tail lights.

I hardly ever used the EV button. So I removed it and replaced it with a dual usb port for charging.

Where'd you get the USB port that fits that switch position so perfectly?

I used a Fuse tap. I had the fuse tap for my rear view mirror camera display already so I just spliced into that connection.

Is the Gentex mirror Prius C specific? and, it's cost is above $500 for the mirror alone?

The mirror is essentially universal for most toyotas and other wedge mount mirrors. That price is correct. I am sure you can get it for less by using ebay or even a junkyard, but they will be used.

Confirming with you that the C1 does not come with any engine hood insulation. I picked up a used one from a wrecked C and bought the plastic push pins from Toyota.

My One doesn't have insulation under the hood. Ended up buying some material, but planning on installing in the doors first. If I have any left over I can put it under the hood. Not really clear to me that under the hood is going to help much though (well... at least not as much as in the doors). I was thinking about putting some above the plastic wheel well liners because of the tire noise. Thoughts?
