    Hi all,
I'm the proud owner of a new 2015 Prius v Four. I've only joined 3 message boards (forums, what have you) in the past and those have all been for bands. Music bands. Oh, and one for acoustic guitar discussions. So you can see how excited I am (and hoping to become informed) about our new Prius v.

First a word about my previous car. I'm still grieving over it. I was driving a Silver 2002 Honda Accord EX 6-cylinder 2 door Coupe. I bought it 1 week before 9/11 in 2001, when my daughter turned 16 and got her driver's license (and I no longer had to drive carpool). That car had every option you could get on a Honda Accord at the time, plus a spoiler. It drove like a dream. I drove it for 13.5 years and it had 211,000 miles on it when the transmission died (a known problem with those cars). We decided not to repair or replace the transmission and just get a new car. RIP Eddie. I LOVED that car.

Now for our Prius v. It's the Blue Ribbon Metallic color and we named it Vida Blue after the baseball player. We've had it for a couple of weeks, and still have the dealer's tags on it. I've never owned a Hybrid before, so I'm thrilled to find this forum for information and community. We bought the Prius v because we wanted the best combination of cargo space + gas mileage for city driving. We chose the Four because I wanted the Softex Leatherette seats. We chose the Blue Ribbon Metallic because my husband likes bright colors. I love the color, and it stands out from all the silver cars you see out there. We got the 0% financing from Toyota and after we get this car paid off, I plan to get myself the smallest diesel SUV that can pull an Airstream trailer :) Then my husband will inherit the Prius v to drive around town and carry his band's equipment to gigs. He's currently driving a 2003 Honda Civic EX Sedan.

I look forward to many years of driving & enjoying our Prius v. My husband and I are already competing on who can get the best gas mileage out of it… so far he is winning :)

Seems to me like your hubby is the one who needs a towing-capable SUV. Besides, you won't want to give the v up.

Congratulations. We had a 2002 Accord that I sold when we bought our 2012 v. Same experiences with the good ride and poor transmissions on the Honda, but it still drove and looked good from a paint, interior, engine and suspension standpoint. That one went through two transmissions, one on warranty at 75k and another from a junkyard at around 250k.

I like the higher seating position and mileage of the Prius v along with the more modern features like built in navigation and voice commands. The AC is very strong but tinting is always a good idea in Central Texas. I might consider protecting a pristine front end with the 3M spray on film which is removable to help protect against rock chips. There are a couple of reports on this forum of v's with 300k miles already so you should get good life from your new car.

Most of the information on this site about the 2012-2014 v's will apply to you except for the mfd (radio) and a few minor details. You have DRL's that I wish I had. I would find a list of the differences so you know those items. You do have a high tech car that some mechanics can't work on but there are some independents that are getting knowledgeable. For oil changes and rotations there are no differences and that's all you really need for many many miles.

This is a good time to buy a Prius because of low gas prices. Most of the dealers were stingy with the discounts in 2012.
