    The crankcase needs to be vented......for several reasons.
    If the resulting fumes are not recirculated, they are vented to the atmosphere.
    What makes you think that it is not needed ??

    You’re talking about PCV or Positive Crankcase Ventilation. It recirculates crankcase fumes into intake. Of course Prius has it. But it doesn’t have EGR or External Gas Recirculation.

    BTW, EGR stands for EXHAUST gas recirc.
