I have this same exact issue and the above solution works every time. My question is, if it is a mechanical failure why does this solution work? Also, how did anyone figure this out?

Performing these action tells me that some sort of reset is occurring in order for the combo meter to start working again. Wouldn't this indicate a software issue?

P.S. - The above procedure is not exactly correct.... Step 8 is not needed as the lights are already on.

Wow! If this (or similar) works for 2010+ that would be Wow! squared.

Wait, the cost is $200-1200 depending on trim? $200 sounds too good to be true.

    Hello all...

Just closing the loop on my issue (missing speedometer and gas gauge display). I took my 2010 Prius to my local repair shop (not dealer) and they referred me to a local tach & speedo shop.

They replaced the bad circuit board for $550 (parts+labor+tax). Everything appears to be working now.

Thanks for the information and advice!

    I'm still:
1: checking head lights are off.
    2: Foot on break.
3: Then headlights on, press key fob lock twice (if headlamp indicator lamp illuminates you have re synced the dash)
Or dis connect and reconnect the 12v battery.
Still haven't figured out what causes it to get out of sync?

The 2010+ OEM part number or the combination meter is # 8380047B20.

    Currently, here at two(2) that I found on eBay;

    toyota 8380047B20 | eBay

You have to be careful, however, because there is one instrument panel for cars with LED headlights and another for cars without LED headlights.

I know this is a late reply to this thread. I hope it helps someone. This happened in San Diego.

My Instrument Cluster started to fail. Tell tale sign, intermittent dark dash. Usual cause 12V battery. Replaced the battery (35 bux). Dash kept blanking intermittently. Reset dash by disconnecting the 12V battery cable 30 seconds, worked but I can't like my life like this. Bought a repaired cluster on eBay for 149 plus 75 core deposit. Installed. Happy. Less than 200 spent.

    Hi Paul,
I have the same problem with my prius 2010 Gen3, the speedometer, the fuel guage and shifter display are dead. The right side works but after a cold night it does not appear till 10 min of driving and almost in every cold morning I must reset the clock because it is behind the actuel time!! The 12v battery has been change just 3 months ago and all the fuse work well. My car start well in the morning.
Would you please give me more info about your solution?
    Regards

I just fixed a similar problem by checking my 12v battery connections. After I put in a new 12v battery, the car started but but no instrument cluster. After looking on here and on youtube I found the culprit to be a loose connection to the negative terminal on the 12v battery. This was totally my fault and easy to fix. Everything good now-PHEW!
