    I think Audi started the "grill styling", now I see it everywhere I look.

    It also says not to buy the first model year no matter the company.
    I think Ford was copying it from Maserati.

    No, but I heard that buggy drivers used to carry a shovel and a bucket to scoop what comes out of the muffler :D.

    Here's a Q for ya'll

    Do you think it helps or hurts an alternative .fuel vehicles sales when a vehicle is made to look 'unique' or to stand out?

    Prime example of this would be the new BMW i3. Seems they got a bunch of PEV enthusiast input for the looks of that one.
    Leaf is another example: unusual looking.

    Personally, I like the Tesla Model S approach better: Make a car that appeals to wide range of car buyers. I'm sure most gas lovers like how the Model S looks too.

    btw, the Prius might just be the most chided, picked on car in history. Prius has been 'picked on' on in news clips (Homobile SF ride service), movies (the Other Guy), hit TV shows (Modern Family - shooing butterflies while driving to next wedding site), comdedy routines (Dunham) and online sites like Urban Dictionary. Yay.

    Ask Renault. Over here they sold the Fluence ZE sedan - which failed spectacularly, and the Renault Zoe small hatchback, which is selling but not really as expected (other than in France). The VW have released the VW e-UP city car and the VW e-Golf. Both of these aren't really selling to any great number, though the Golf has only just been released.

    The sales figures seem to confirm that weird looking EVs sell.

    All sensible looking cars (strangely white is a popular colour), and all not really setting sales alight.

    Whils the two weird looking EVs are selling like hot cakes;

    Just saw 2015 V in showroom... Man! That grill is ugly beyond belief. Whomever approved it should be fired on the spot. I mean it is x10 uglier in the person than in pics, no kidding

    How successful would the Prius had been if the second gen was just a sedan and not some tapered hatchback?

    I love the hatchback. Last weekend one of our sons decided he need a mongo sized barebecue. The guys at the loading bay were sceptical (I was too), but with the box carefully centered in the opening, and with a little oomph, in it went. Someone even said: "Yeah, Prius" (Jesse voice). ;)

    But I really do not know about the ever creepier catfish look, hope they smarten up.
