I have read this post but did not get a solution: Deactivate stolen key fob for 2004 Prius | PriusChat

Basically last night my house got burgled and they took one of the 2 master FOBs. I still have got one FOB with me. You can see the FOB in the picture (non SKS type, black Toyota logo). I now need to deactivate the stolen FOB please.

I have this MINI-VCI cable and a working version of Techstream. I believe it is possible to do but I am not sure how. I have read enough in this forum but I could not find a guide on how to do it. Can one of you please help?

    Much appreciated

I would bet you can do that with Techstream and there is probably also a chicken-dance for it (something that involves some goofy combination of opening and closing doors, pushing fob buttons, etc.). The function you're looking for is for the car to forget all fobs except the one you do the dance with (assuming it is also a master). Then if you have others you can program them back in.

Regrettably I only have a Gen 1 and the Gen 1 service manuals, so I can't give you the details for your model year. I am sure someone on PriusChat will eventually answer with the right procedure, or you could eventually find it by searching the forum, but you probably want that fob disabled ASAP, and with time being of the essence I'd encourage you to go directly to your model year's service manual on techinfo.toyota.com and look up the procedure directly.

Look chicken dance is the easy part and I will get it done once I get another FOB, no issues there. The main issue is this:

    1. When I perhaps know what to look for in Techstream, I will find that there are 2 FOBs registered for my car. Problem is that there is no way for me to know which one to delete.. that does scare me...

I just dismantled my FOB and I could not find any serial number inside which may associate with some number in Techstream

Wonder if it's at all possible to delete all keys and then program my current FOB fresh...

I welcome any ideas or guide etc

    thanks

The Techstream system selections that you have to make are "Immobilizer" for the transponder (key in dash), and "Smart Key" (or "Entry&Start" if Techstream is set up for other than North America). Then select "Utility" on the left menu. Next select "Key Code Erasure" and follow the prompts. The "Erasure" functions erase all key codes except the current one being used. Note that you have to do this twice, once for the immobilizer and then again for the smart key. You've also got the mechanical key to worry about...

I noticed that the menu system is somewhat different between North America setup and other setups. The North American setup includes more functions, so you may want to try it (Setup, Configure) if something is missing. The non-SKS (black logo) keyfob is different, and I can't help you with it as I don't have one. Maybe someone with a black logo Gen2 can chime in.

Note that I've got Techstream version 7. Things may have changed in later versions, but my 2006 has the same ECUs today as when I bought it...

I just reread the initial post and it says black logo... The immobilizer function is as I described, but I don't know about the remote functions. I'm certain that you can do a "reset all keyfobs except the current one", but I don't have experience with the black logo version. I would play with the menu items like "Body" or anything that sounds like the key system. There may be something that doesn't show up on my Techstream since I have a different configuration. There are messages that describe what each function does, so it should be safe to explore. The only way that you can delete all of the keys is with a "seed reset", which requires dealer access to a magic number. Don't worry about that until you lose the last key.

So far its unanimous that there ought to be a way to forget-every-fob-except-the-one-being-used-to-do-the-forgetting. In my Gen 1 there's a special chicken dance that does that in case Techstream isn't handy. But so far we haven't come up with any better source for the exact steps than the service manual itself. If you want to speed up the learning process you can go straight there at techinfo.toyota.com.

Untill you figure out how to make the stolen remote useless you can lock the car with the key and the key and only the key will unlock it. Of course the key in the stolen remote will also unlock it but, does the crook know that?

Yeah I am aware of this and I suppose there is no way out from that... I will have to live with it.. and perhaps never keep anything valuable in the car ever...

A bit more info about this Car.. this is a Japanese Import so this is a bit different Gen II from what you see in USA. All the instructions for this car is in Japanese as this is a Japanese Domestic Model. By saying that I would not think it would be that different.

I have heard that you can buy after market Transponder Keys to program as well for this Prius NHW20. Here is the video:

So perhaps the best option is to get one of these keys and then program it first then use Techstream to delete one of the Master FOBs. So even if my current FOB is deleted I will still have newly coded Transponder key to operate the Car.

    Opinions please.

The Ovnisf transponder key is a Toyota mechanical key with a transponder coded the same as a keyfob. It works both to lock/unlock the door, plus you can insert it into the keyslot to enable starting the car. An excellent backup device.

The remote lock/unlock is a separate function. If you lose the last keyfob, a transponder device such as the Ovnisf key is not going to allow you to register another keyfob for lock/unlock service. It will take an expensive trip to the dealer to recover from an "all keys lost" situation.

I would recommend getting a used 2 button keyfob off eBay or other private sale. The black logo keyfob is not subject to all the "can't register a used device" games that are so intensely discussed here. I don't know how many different 2 button keyfobs there are, but they are certainly not the same device as the 3 button keyfobs we have here in the US. Probably something about government regulations about assigned radio frequencies.

A while back I noticed that you can purchase a lock cylinder and 2 mechanical keys for something like $70 USD. That's less than it costs to have a locksmith pick an existing lock and provide the keys for it. So it's definitely worth checking with a dealer. Or maybe even importing the set from an online dealer in the US.

Okay all the helpful people .. I made progress.. just coding the remote lock and unlock is left.. So let me explain what I have done and what I could not do...

    1. So I got a used FOB from a local car dealer...See the picture. The one with out the keyring is the one I bought. Cost me NZ $90.
    2. I am using Toyota Techstream V9.00.026
    3. I was able to erase all the immobilizer except the master key one. So the stolen FOB is no longer registered with my car.
    4. After that I was able to register the second FOB which I bought and this FOB can start the car
    5. I was able to erase wireless code of the stolen FOB. Basically the stolen FOB will not be able to open the door with remote.
    6. I was NOT able to register the second FOB (that I bought) for the wireless remote function. Yes have followed the steps. Please check the screendumps. So basically the second FOB will start the car but it is not able to remotely open the doors.

I wonder is there anything I am missing here. Please note I am using Techstream and I have not yet tried so called chicken dance as advised here...
Finally! How to program a non-SKS key/fob. Detailed! | PriusChat

    All advice is greatly appreciated

N.B: Please ignore where it says Number of remotes currently registered as 2 as I now have deleted the stolen remote.
