The i3: BMW i3 European sales figures
The Outlander PHEV: Mitsubishi Outlander European sales figures

    The i3 sold about 10,500 in 2013 and 2014.
The Outlander PHEV sold about 23,000 in the same time. The model's sales jumped in 2013 with the new generation and PHV version.

Reputation. The Mitsubishi brand name is not as well respected, at least in North America.

    9. Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi has been struggling in the U.S. and its service isn’t helping the Japanese automaker’s reputation. This year, the company scored 785, a drop of nine points compared to its 2014 ranking, which also had it in ninth place.

It's like why American car models often sell less than comparable higher priced Japanese models.

Subaru & Toyota's Scion is on that link too. Folks that drive these cars tend to love 'em. But the link primarily references dealership experience as opposed to the vehicles them selve. So should I not buy a Mitsu or Subaru or Scion (also on that link) if the dealerships suck? We like our SUV Lexus Hybrid's features/reliability/mpg's, but have found the stealership to be absolutely criminal in some of our experiences.

You can buy whatever you want, but I'm just telling you that Mitsubishi isn't a popular brand here. Neither is Scion. Toyota has had a very hard time selling Scion cars. In fact, Toyota Scion dealerships have in the past had to keep both but recently Toyota has been OK with dealerships dropping the Scion part. Subaru has had its ups and downs. In contrast, both Honda and Toyota have enjoyed an excellent reputation, and Lexus even better, even if individual Lexus dealerships might suck.

    Toyota Reveals 2016 RAV4 Hybrid - HybridCars.com

Interesting that they didn't publish/release the mpg on this, on account of it being a hybrid and all. Unless the mpg isn't going to be that spectacular. I'm going to guesstimate 34 city, 30 highway, and 32 combined. Plus or minus 2 mpg for margin of error.

I wonder how much this will cost, especially since they are only releasing it as an XLE and Limited trim. Meaning top of the line stuff. The regular Rav4 is about $23-28k depending on the trim, so I'm guessing it'll probably cost $32-36k for the hybrid trims.

Assuming that those are the specs, and you were in the market for the Rav4, would you consider the hybrid over the gas one? Why or why not?

No mention of aerodynamic tricks being used like the one they built with tesla.

Biggest thing, no fwd unit is offered, and to that makes sense. Get hybrid buyers to pony up to 4wd, where the hybrid premium is likely to be lower, well if toyota prices it right,

I am guessing 32 combined or better, since that is what the Lexus NX 300h AWD gets, but the RAV4 Hybrid is likely lighter.

    The Lexus NX 300h AWD gets 33 city / 30 highway / 32 combined.

We're in for one: Hybrid Limited, with all the safety features (which are hopefully included in the Limited package), assuming we need the Limited packaged for all the Smart Key features since that's what we're used to with the Prius. Also the automatic lift gate is a big bonus.

I am hoping for well under $40000 Canadian for the Limited AWD Hybrid. Right now the 2015 Canadian Limited AWD RAV4 with technology package (which already includes most of those safety features Toyota was gushing about) is $34345 after $1500 rebate, or $35845 with no rebate. So, for a Hybrid, I'd say < $38500 is reasonable, assuming the currency exchange isn't going to affect things too much.

As I've mentioned before, the deletion of the Venza allows the Hybrid RAV4 to take over its pricing tiers.
