Well, this is actually somewhat related to my Pruis - I just published a short story, The Other Car, about alternate realities in which the bridge is a Prius.

interesting fiction plot (based on the free page). did i understand it right it had the identical license plate?
let me guess, the second car unlocked with your fob and took you into alternative reality? nice idea, thanks for sharing.

No, alternate realities - as in Fringe :)

My pleasure - and, yes, identical licenses plates. Beyond that, I can say no more, least I get whisked out of this world :)

the thing about The Silk Code, it sort of reminds me Brown's The Da Vinci Code. but, he published it several years later after you.

I'm looking through your collection on your site. Is there a preferred order? Or can I pick any random one to start?

Yep. But you can't copyright fiction ideas or style.

You should read The Silk Code before The Consciousness Plague and The Pixel Eye (NYPD forensic detective).

You should read The Plot to Save Socrates before Unburning Alexandria and Chronica (time travel).

You should read "Loose Ends" before "Little Differences" and "Late Lessons" (time travel).

And "The Other Car" is standalone.

    Thanks for the question!

I just finished the Silk Code. Good reading and I love Alternate History Science Fiction (this is what's called, right?). I'll check out the other books (time permitting).

Glad you enjoyed! Yes, it's alternate history. Enjoy the rest whenever you have a chance.

I finished The Plot to Save Socrates. Cool plot and story. Paul, i agree with you the time travel (back in time) makes no sense, unless you go back in alternative/parallel universe.

Glad you liked the novel! The 2nd and 3rd novels in the trilogy - Unburning Alexandria and Chronica (has a special alternate history twist) - might also be of interest.

I'm 200 pages into Silk Code. I am, admittingly, a slow reader who needs to carve out more time for actual book reading.

Slow reading is the best - you savor the story.

How can you go wrong with a cover that has dual ghost images of bikini clad women and Prius?

In fact, I suggest Toyota adopt a similar cover for the next Gen Prius owners manual. THEN maybe some newbies would actually read it.

Thanks - and brilliant idea! Hey, I'd be happy to include a copy of my story as perk, in every new owner's manual.

I fully agree. When people tell me they skim I just feel that they're missing something. Every author of every book spent time thinking of, crafting, and writing every word. Aditionally, an editor might have taken time to tweak a phrase. To skip words or whole sentences sells everyone involved short. How could someone say they enjoyed a book if they blew through it?
On a considerably smaller scale, I will sometimes spend a substantial amount of time crafting an email to convey exactly the message I want only to have people skim it and completely miss the point. Infuriating.

Yes, as an author I fully agree. I also write nonfiction books about the media, and sometimes I read a review which totally misses a point I thought I carefully made. I'm always happy to get a review, but I have to wonder what the reviewer was actually reading. I'm glad to know that there are readers like you who take their time with a book or story.
