I Plastidipped the cap as well. The caps that I have allows the Toyota emblem to be clipped on so I took the emblems off and Plastidipped the cap.

Shortly after I posted this I realized that I put it in back to front. I was probably rushing the finish to beat sunset. Here's the morning after revision.

    20150418_085823.jpg 20150418_085811.jpg

Here's a few snapshots detailing how I fabricated the plug.

    20150417_164340.jpg 20150417_182516.jpg 20150417_183806.jpg 20150417_184806.jpg 20150417_191009.jpg

I found a carriage bolt with a 1" head. Using an angle grinder and a dremel tool, I sculpted it to closely match overhead profile of the washer port. Then I hit it with a coat of primer, and a shot of 8V1, and installed it using he original gasket.

    No, that's the after pic.

Perhaps "delete" is too strong of a term. Let's call this a washer port plug.
It's using the original gasket from the washer port which keeps it raised a bit.

Today's project: Inverter Cover (and Friends) Installation

    Before:

    After:
    20150418_120623.jpg

The coolant bottle and the wiring harness covers were simple snap-ins. However, the inverter cover was made for Lexus & Prius v (a.k.a プリウスα). So it takes some tweaking to get this to fit in the ZVW30 just right.

The inverter cover has three issues.
    1. There's a grounding bracket that interferes on the corner near the fuse box.
    2. There's a mounting hole which has nothing for the push-pin to push into.
    3. The radiator cover doesn't play nice with the forward edge of the inverter cover.

The grounding bracket issue took a little work with a cutting wheel and some touch up work with a dremel sanding drum.

For the mounting hole issue, I fabricated a fake backing for it. It's purely cosmetic.

For the case of the interference between the radiator cover and the inverter cover ...
    upload_2015-4-18_13-3-48.png

I used my dremel sanding drum to shave the radiator cover a bit.

    There, it is.

Yes, they stay on with the headlights & can be turned off when not wanted. Think of them now as DRLs during the day & fogs at night.
