Hey everyone I went to my local dealership and they quoted me $23,971 for the 2015 Prius Persona in Blizzard Pearl White with preferred package, bumper appliqué. Plus NJ tax .07 % $23,971 is a cash price.. is this a good deal or should I go else where? this will be a commuter car, Am I better off with a vehicle with the 15 inch wheel option for better mileage? like the Prius 2 or 3, I can't tell the difference between the models. I saw the Absolute Red.. it is very bright.. brighter than my Red Camry SE.. What do you experts think of this price I was quoted? $300 doc fee and $399 of registration..

    Nick, welcome to the site.

Go to Motor Vehicle Commission and print out the pages that show the title and registration fees. When the dealer tries to charge more for these fees they are just ripping you off. The only other legitimate tax is the tire tax, $1.50 per tire. Some try to collect it on five tires even when the car doesn't have a spare.

Build the car on truecar.com and aaa.com if you are a member. Send out the requests to the dealers. You can also try negotiating down from the contract price. If you are in North Jersey try using zip codes 08016 or 08077 to see if South Jersey prices are cheaper. You can also contact the dealers through their internet sales departments directly. There's Holman Toyota in Mt. Laurel, Liberty Toyota in Burlington, Team Toyota in Lawrenceville, and Dayton Toyota in Dayton to name a few.

The price seems fair if I selected the correct PIO (port installed options).

The car with 15" wheels will have higher fuel economy.

Buy the level that has the gizmos that you'll be happiest with. If you are perfectly happy with a Two (and there isn't any reason you shouldn't) then the additional features in a Three or Persona aren't providing any value. If they aren't valuable to you then why pay for them?

The first trip you should take with the car is to get it covered in protective film. Give Reno a call, 732-277-9358, he's Armortec & works out of his garage in Monmouth Beach. He also makes house calls. He did my 2006 & my 2010. If you call him, tell him Jim Natale sent you & that I say "hi".

Wish I saw your post earlier Jim, we purchased the car today.. Blizzard White Persona, $26,449 with NJ tax and doc& reg fees. I'm happy with the purchase. Primarily purchased the vehicle for my wife, she has been driving the old minivan and was probably getting 16 mpg, on the daily 110 mile round trip commute. hopefully I can save some money on gas now..

I'll give Reno a call tomorrow and see how much he can cover with the protective film. How long or any prep work for the protective film?

Only gripe so far on this vehicle, is that it does not have the auto lights off, or I just don't know how to use it. Hopefully your forum's expertise, I can learn all the tricks.

It's not bad, but the true car price with TTT is $23,100.
Add a few for the Blizzard paint and give them a little profit and I get $23,500

Tax season is winding down, gas is cheap, and the G4's will be hitting the streets soon.
I'd wait....or haggle them down another 4-5 hundred.

    Good Luck!

I think it was the best price in NJ, the msrp was $28,405 kind of inflated, dealer price was $25,600, I told the dealer to match an out of state price was $23,773 for the blizzard pearl. paid $200 more in NJ but beats 3 hrs of travel to MD :)

With BP, preferred accessory package, appearance package and Zip 08016, I get an MSRP of $28,896, invoice of $27,195 and a True Car price of $24,702. Trouble is without seeing the actual sticker to see what exact options are included and knowing the correct Zip, it's hard to get accurate data. FWIW, the MSRP here (Zip 85381) is the same, but the invoice price is higher and the True Car price is lower, go figure.

The main thing is that you're happy with the deal you made and that's all that matters. I learned a long time ago that no matter what deal I make, someone will always be able to get, or claim they got, a better deal, so I no longer worry about it. I probably overpaid for my BP, but I am so happy with it that I just don't care. In 5-10 years, an extra few dollars will not mean a thing. :)

I washed the car before driving out to him. It'll get washed again anyway. I had the front bumper, full hood, headlights, front fenders, mirror backs, door cups, and rocker panels covered. It's an all day job. If you didn't have the applique on the top of the rear bumper cover he'd cover that too. If the weather is good walk the two blocks to the beach. When I had the car done over New Year's I dropped it off & picked it up the next day. There's a sweet spot for temperature & humidity when working with the film. Too hot & it's a sticky bugger. Too cold & it's a stiff bugger.

When working on the car I want stuff done right, not fast. He's got the same mindset and because he's small he doesn't have the overhead of a big shop so he does a really good job at a very reasonable price. I don't care if a place opened a quarter mile from me--I'm still driving across the state to have him shrink wrap the car.

I'm glad you're happy with your purchase. There will always be someone who paid more and someone who paid less for the same car. Those few bucks over the lifetime of the car really don't matter.

The "auto off" means if you leave the headlights on and power down the car they will turn off after a set amount of time which can be customized to some extent. There's quite a list of things that can be changed in the owner's manual.

    Enjoy.

    Hi Nick,
Could you please tell me the name of your dealership and your sales person? I think its a great price for NJ. I live in northern NJ and have not seen that price. How do you like the Persona? I am thinking of selling my 2010 IV with 70,000 for a new 2015 Persona.

The persona is basically a 3 with 17" wheels.

There's a member here that bought the persona for $22300 plus fees, in California

I'm the guy JC91006 is talking about. $22,300 for Blizzard pearl Prius Persona in Santa Monica. Mine has MSRP of 28,499. Didn't have dealer add ons. Did have some useless stuff from factory like carpet floor mats and prius sticker on back bumper.

wait a minute.....are you like a Caitlyn thing? I swore I saw a good looking woman and a pink prius on your avatar.....what's with the "I'm the guy JC is talking about" stuff.

Santa Monica seems to be a pretty shady dealership. I along with another member here contacted their internet department regarding a sale price they quoted through email. Neither of us were able to get what they quoted......both of us ended up buying in Mission hills.

Maybe it just depends on person you deal with? I originally dealt with internet director through emails then someone else called me. I think he was some sort of manager that goes between all dealerships thats owned by the same guy. I haggle with him over the phone and got to the point where he said we stand by our price and thats it. I never talked to internet director guy, he didn't even come introduce himself. The guy I talked to over the phone just talked to me once. I mostly dealt with a guy that had no idea who I was or what was going on. He was just normal internet sales rep. I was determine to get price I was quoted because I know I could easily get a better deal with american cars but my gf wanted a prius. To be honest I wanted more off. I remember when I was introduced to several of the managers they all laugh saying they would change the price. To be honest the experience wasn't bad when I went to pick up the car. They were super busy when I was there to sign papers. I recall hearing sales rep talking to other people and i felt bad for them getting taken advantage of on pricing. I actually email every dealership in so cal and only thousand oaks responded with 22800 and that guy as an donkey. I don't recall Hamer even giving me a decent price, so I guess just depends on the person. I commuted from Rancho Cucamonga to Santa Monica to pick it up so if they didn't honor the price over the phone I would have thrown a huge shit fit.

I read somewhere it's 1 mpg lower but I average 60 pretty easy in the city without driving like a grandma. I've avg 72 on freeway depending on terrain .
