Pretty sure I've eliminated all possibilities other than this: AXLE BEAM BUSHING - 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS (4872502290)

Anyone else deal with this before?

Inspect the rear busing. If no obvious separation/massive deterioration, appears in the rubber, you'll need to take a big pry bar to force the beam up/down/left/right, to see if the rubber has separated.

When were the rear struts last replaced too? Were these rubber components changed out at the time? 4875, 48257C, 48259A,

Maybe the strut bumper is shot too?

I don't use the original rubber spring mounts with the Ground Control coil-over sleeves.. and I'm not entirely clear what you mean by a strut bumper.

If you mean bumper stop, that was cut and shortened when I added the Coil-over sleeves over two years ago. The sound isn't coming from inside the strut or near the strut either. Its coming from the cross member support or trailing arm busihing. I can hear it creak and groan when I jack up the car or turn into a steep driveway. Basically any time the trailing arm moves. I've taken the struts out recently to replace the rear coils, during this time I inspected the entire strut assembly and there are no squeaks or creaking. In fact even before I swapped out for different springs I was hearing the creaking for the past couple months - regardless of weather... hot or cold.

More curious as to anyone else noticing similar issues in other Gen2 - mine is a 2007 with just over 130K

Ah, I've always called them bumper stops. Part 48341A and 48341B - but no, those do not creak and are in top notch condition.

Here is the PDF from Ground Control - instructing to cut them.

Duh. I had "strut bumper stop," in mind, but somehow only typed "strut bumper."

I had meant, if they were reused, maybe they fell apart w/o you knowing. Seems to be made of some super strong "styrofoam" like material.

EDIT: and could be a source of the sound? But likely if the strut bumper stop fell apart, you would probably hear, and definitely feel it.

Did cutting the strut bumper help at all? Thinking mine is spring bind.

Cutting the bumper stop doesn't eliminate the 'noise' you have. It just allows for more strut 'travel'. Pretty sure mine isn't spring bind. Noise doesn't appear to come from the strut/spring assembly but from the bushing area.

    I cld b wrong tho..

Coil-bind is a "springy" noise that only occurs at low speeds while turning the wheel - mind is only happens on the rear axle - not the front wheels..

Mine is only on the rears, low speeds or backing out the driveway. I'll try to make a better video of the sound.

    Never Mind....
( the KYB config requires a washer above the rubber bumper which is built into the OEM bumper....)
I just replaced the rear shock with KYB and used their recommended KYB SB 132 bumper, which appears shorter than OEM (48341A/B below).
Now when I jump on the rear end (apologies to the Hip Hop crowd), the travel is much greater than before.
Should I pull it apart and re-install the OEM bumpers? They are intact, with just a little bit of cracking around the edges.
I'd like to get it back together before my wife catches on to my long learning curve.
Is the shorter KYB bumper an "upgrade" or a mistake?

Fixed mine.... It was my aftermarket rear sway bar. But the factory bolts back in and no longer makes that sound.
