They are some diamond in the rough from China. I ordered an additional 5 pairs of bulbs after seeing how well they performed but the shipments never arrived and I was refunded my money. I have tried other sellers on AliExpress whose bulbs look the same in the listing and I am 0-2, they are not as bright. The bulbs are listed as "80w Cree XB-D" on AliExpress.

I ordered my 60W 7440 bulbs (4 amber and 2 white) from Huizhou GMC Car Light Co on the www.alibaba.com and have been really happy with the products. I basically messaged the seller, told them what I wanted ( T20 bulbs in 4 Yellow and 2 White 60W ) and they sent me a quote >$100 and I sent them a PayPal payment. Lights arrived sometime later and haven't had a problem since installation. They now offer 80W LEDs.. They usually require a min order of 10 lights...

Model Specification Color Unit Price (USD) Comments

    7440 12V-24VDC White $14.5 6000K-7000K
    power: 80W
    LED: CREE Red $15 630nm

    Output current: Yellow $15 588-590nm

Any LED turn signal you add to the Gen2 Prius unless you had a separate relay, will hyper flash. You should always just replace the OEM Toyota Flasher relay with one that is made to accommodate LEDS.

I bought my LED flasher relay from iJDMTOY- here.

No worries, your posts are extremely informative and Vinnie_febs' avatar is incredible so I will let it slide.

Justdidit: Did you check out AliExpress for the same seller?

Vinnie_febs: I also used the same relay for hyperflashing. It is a nice solution as the car only requires one relay and there is no additional resistor(s) needed.

Since I am posting I may update this thread by saying I am still waiting for my backordered Eastwood fender roller to arrive, it is scheduled to be in my possession in about a week. In the meantime I have been putting time and effort into my personal car...

Based off your experience, what is the best method for opening these glued enclosures that do not use a butyl. I ran into the same issue doing my wifes Altima this wknd. Cracked one of the taillights. Want to purchase a new one and redo it. Also want to do my taillights.

First of all, thanks for deleting that hideous amber!

Techniques can differ for different head/taillights with the Prius or similarly designed taillights I would recommend using a heat gun and thin razor blade. Work in sections heating the adhesive and lightly scouring between the lens and housing, with each pass of the razor you can apply slightly more pressure until the razor pierces through. The heat gun is used to warn the adhesive but mainly the adjacent lens so it doesn't crack from the pressure but make sure not to melt any plastic.

Patience, less pressure, and more heat should yield satisfactory results.

I have a question about what mat you used to put those tires on haha.... it looks like it fits realitivley well for having the seats folded down. I travel with dogs constantly (always at least one German Shepard with me , but sometimes with both of them) i took out the back seat "backs" and covered the fabric interior with a blanket ....anyhow i would prefer to have the rubber matt all throughout the back to cover the seats as well. BTW nice work with all the mods, im still trying to determine what i am going to do with the tail lights because they seem so difficult.

I assume you are talking about the photo of my E61. The rubber you see if the oem cargo cover which only covers the floor behind the seats when they are upright. When hauling items like this, or sometimes our dog with the seats down I lay an additional moving blanket or rear seat cover on the seat backs.

For you as a dog owner, I would recommend one of the rear seat covers as seen below, it does a great job at protecting the interior regardless of seat orientation. I bought mine from TJ Maxx or Home Goods for $15 or so.

Just read this thread from the start and daaaymn. I've been trying to hold off mods on my prius and keep it stock and functional for the bit over a year I've owned it, but after seeing this, I need to tinker more.

Those headlights!!! Any info on the projector you used? I have the normal halogen headlights at the moment, do you think I'd have to do anything special besides wiring in the ballast and normal HID stuff?
Also for taking lights apart, on some jza80 rear lights I was tinkering with, I put them in the oven at around 80-90°C for 10mins and it loosened up the butyl layer pretty good compared to cold. Still a massive pain though!!

Here's a pic of my 06 with it's Toyota GT86/BRZ/FRS 16" wheels, needs moar mods!

DAMO - you have a picture of the front of your car? Like to see if it is different from the U.S.A. version. Back looks the same, you may have the red fog light built into the tail light?

Sorry to hijack the thread ucsbwsr, here's one of the only front photos I have of my prius, back when it was on stock wheels.

Unfortunately no fog lights built into the tail lights, though the red reflective piece is a legal requirement on all tail lights in Australia. I've noticed you guys tend to have orange reflective material on your front lights which we do not have here.

Thanks Orenji, I've been reading around on here for quite some time now, but only just starting to get involved.

For anyone wondering, that green piece of plastic with the P on it signifies that I am somewhat of an inexperienced driver.
Over here we have 1 year on our "Learners license" which we can only drive with someone who has their full license, limited to 90km/h, no alcohol, have to display 2 yellow L plates and is obtainable at 16 years of age if you pass a general driving knowledge test.
An additional year on our P1 Provisional license (AKA red P's as you have to have a Red P displayed), you're limited to90km/h legally, no more than 1 passenger after 10pm. You must drive around with an instructor and pass to obtain this license.
Another 2 years on our P2 Provisional license (Green P plate in my photos) limited to 100km/h, no alcohol and have to pass a simulated driving test, tap a screen when you you apply the brakes, when you think it's safe to go, etc.
Then finally you can take an additional test to get your full license. Max speed is whatever the road sign says, you're are allowed to have some alcohol, dont have to display any P plates and are allowed to drive high performance v8's and turbo charged 6 cylinders and 4 cylinders after passing another knowledge test.

Well here in the states, licenses are handed out to anyone who can open a car door! ;) Sounds like we could learn a thing or two!

yes it would be politically incorrect to deny a drivers license to an illegal alien that can't speak English, can't read road signs, doesn't know the law, and has no insurance. just more proof our govt is mostly idiots.

Ive tried a few different dog covers and they are ok but idealy i wanted the rubber matt to cover the whole back seat area including over the seat back up to the fron seats ill get a picture in the am to show u what i have now. I hate the dirt and hair that gets in between the "sections because they are split. I have two big dogs lots of hair and a barley big enough car problem haha 1487791_10206545426864995_3145071086851919371_o.jpg 1497555_10204242870502525_6086171403220537442_n.jpg 11143139_10206401066576078_2773330084133020251_o.jpg
