The 12V battery is certainly one of your car's problems. I am not saying it is the only problem, but the first step always should be to ensure the 12V battery is in excellent condition before you continue your troubleshooting process.

On the health check results screen next to many of the codes are snowflake icons. Clicking on a snowflake brings you to the Freeze Frame Data pages. These pages have titles in some what plain English that will give you an idea what the code means. You will also find the sub or info codes there. It takes some time to learn the ins and outs of Techstream.

It is common for many codes to be caused by the same fault. This means that fixing the P0A09 will take care of many of the other codes.

A drop from 12.9V to 12.1V is not small. That is a major drop, equivalent to the battery moving from fully-charged to discharged. A good 12V battery should hold its charge for months, when not installed.

I don't know what you mean by "excellent reconditioned", there is no such thing when it comes to a 12V AGM battery. Buy a new 12V AGM battery and be done with that particular issue.

Thanks. Yea I wasn't sure how long it should hold so and so volts. I think its been stable at 11.9-12 but if it dropped from 12.8 to that so quickly then yes its probably bad.

We have this guy that rebuilds batteries. and we bought over 2 from him and they've been extremely reliable over 8 months or more on each car. but since its a prius, probably go brand new. whats a good price for one? and where to buy?

Expect to pay ~$200 for a new AGM battery. You can buy it from your local Toyota dealer's parts dept. If you buy a battery other than from the dealer, make sure you observe the correct battery terminal polarity. You do not want to reverse the polarity and cause more problems than the car already has.

Yeah best option looks like a Yellow Top from Amazon. 3-4 days shipped for $140 something. Going to be testing our other prius battery to see how it functions first.

The only problem with buying from Amazon.com is that if your Optima battery fails, you will need to ship the battery back to the selling retailer in order to get a warranty replacement. Obviously that will take a few days so your car will be out of commission during that period unless you buy another 12V battery locally - which defeats the purpose of having a battery warranty.
