Thanks, but I live in Canada. Cameback doesn't ship to Canada.

    EDIT:

I just discovered this site: Keys4Cars

I know nothing about the site and wonder if anyone here in Canada has used them before. They're based in Toronto, so they're local for me.

I'm just buying a 2013 level 4 Prius from a small town dealer not a Toyota dealer guy says he has only one key
The vehicle has solar sunroof so I think it also has that ac button on the key

Whats my cheapest best option to get a second key ?

Cheapest option is buy a used key on eBay then find someone local with Techstream and seed code ability to program it to the car. Without seed code ability you cannot program a used fob to the Prius. Try calling local auto locksmiths.

Too bad you are not in Colorado. I have the equipment to pair used key fobs to Prius.

First post. I just bought a 2013 Prius v Five and it came with just one key.

I see the video on Toycut's site to remove the lock cylinder. It looks like it comes out very easily. Is there a video on putting it back together? I don't want anything falling inside the door.

This worked great for me! Thank you for saving me $330 dollars off the dealer quote for a second key fob! 15 minutes from software install to working key fob. Just plain awesome. Ovnisf was the vendor on ebay for the fob.

You loosen the T30 screw under the quarter sized black plastic cover then pull the cylinder out. The screw has keepers so it will not fall inside the door. The lock cylinder is pulled out from outside of the car. It would near impossible to drop anything inside the door. To put it back just insert the cylinder and tighten the screw. Easy peasy.

BTW, as of late 2015 the easiest way to add fobs for Gen3 is to get a used VIRGINIZED or RESET fob and add yourself with Techstream. No need for seed codes unless you lose all keys or want to program a used fob.

virgin gen3 fob: Virgin Toyota Prius Smart Key Fob HYQ14ACX Keyless 4Runner Venza Virgin | eBay
door key: New Toyota Lexus Smart Emergency Insert Blade Cut Laser Blank Key Code Cutting | eBay

    Thank you!
    After linking to the car:
    1) I selected Smart Key ECU
    2) Then I selected the Utility option
    3) I Held a programmed smart key to start button
    4) I then held the new virgin smart key up to start button (must be preformed within 30 seconds)

The Techstream software takes you step by step with very easy to understand instructions.

    It looks like this:

I wrapped the new keyfob with aluminum foil and later, the primary keyfob. This avoided 'moving the key 30 cm away from car.'

I didn't take a screen shot of the actual instructions with the 30 second window. I'll try again later.

One modification, I wrapped the new fob in aluminum foil instead of putting it '30 cm' away from car. Then wrapped the original key in the foil, again to avoid the '30 cm' away instruction. Very simple and easy.

Sorry, very new to this website and programing.

Thank you for sharing how to program Prius key fob.

But what I am wondering is what about the key blade??
Do I have to cut key blade in any locksmith to use newly programed Prius key fob or can I use it without cutting blade??

Thanks for your answer in advance.

The key blade is only to open the drivers door when the battery inside the remote is dead or the cars 12V battery is dead. It is not needed to operate the car, but is wise to have cut because you'll need it in an emergency.

The mechanical key is only good to open the door, it cannot make the car drive.

What do you mean about the tire sensors? How is that tied to the key?

The TPMS sensors/system have nothing to do with the Smartkey system so it doesn't need to be mentioned here, other than if you get Techstream / Mini/VCI you program sensors to the car as well as long as you know the sensor IDs.

Plenty of aftermarket TPMS tools can pair TPMS sensors to the Prius so whoever said you must use Techstream doesn't know what they are talking about. At my shop we use an Autel TPMS tool which can scan the sensor IDs without having to take the tires off the wheel, then it writes them to the car directly via the OBD2 port WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE. It also reads pressure and battery life of each sensor by simply holding it up to each wheel.
