You can do it yourself, as many times as you want, for the rest of the life of the vehicle with our reconditioning charger & discharger products. Total cost of all hardware needed would be below $500 as well.

    Jeff,
I support what you guys are doing over at Hybrid Automotive and have even installed some of your grid chargers for my customers who wanted them. But I think you may be misleading people by implying that your grid charger can fix failed batteries. A grid charger is a great maintenance tool to keep a battery healthy. That's all that it can do. At least ask people what the symptoms or codes are before telling them that your charger can fix it.

To the OP, Hometown Hybrids in Houston is an established company in your area that you can trust. There are a lot of batteries failing currently and the last customer I had in Houston (Huntsville actually) was quoted a 5 week wait from Hometown. We do come to your area for small travel fee if you can't get a local repair done. Hope that helps. My only other advice is avoid the Craigslist companies, they won't last.

Hi Matt, Thanks for your comments. I think maybe we are reading the same question and interpreting it in different ways. I never implied that our product would fix a failed battery in my comments. The OP asked about rebalancing his battery cells - that is what our products do by design and hundreds of people use them in this fashion. Our systems can and will rebalance the cells in a battery pack with each other 100% of the time. There is no need to pay a shop 2x-3x the cost of our products for a one time rebalancing/reconditioning when our products will deliver the same results to the vehicle owner as many times as they would like and for a lot less money. Cell rebalancing using our systems can be done for both preventative maintenance or in a battery recovery situation. I read his question as he is asking about cell rebalancing, and answered it as such. If he stated her needs reconditioning due to a failure indication, then my answer would obviously have been different. It would have gone something like this:

In several cases our chargers don't fix batteries that have already experienced red triangle failures, but depending on your situation, it can work. In instances where there is a known history of the battery pack, and vehicle is experiencing the first red triangle, our customers are reporting a 70%-75% success rate eliminating the red triangle by reconditioning the pack with our charger & discharger products - without replacing any modules.

This of course means that in 20%-30% of cases, reconditioning with our products is not enough, and modules will still need to be replaced. This is relatively easily done by those that want to, and we are happy to refer our customer to reputable can do it for those that prefer not to perform the work themselves. For our customers, knowing the history of the battery pack they have in their car is a desirable thing. Trading a battery that the vehicle owners knows the history on for a refurbished battery with an unknown mileage/history is a risky prospect our customers are able to avoid.

Our products are not for everyone, but for vehicle owners that are willing to do a little bit of work, reconditioning their own pack and keeping a battery with a known history is a nice option. Especially when one compares the total investment of $500-$600 and a weekend or two of mild effort to paying a lot more cash for a reconditioned battery with an unknown history.

    Jeff,
I understand that the op asked about re balancing their battery and you offered to sell her something that could do that. I would venture to say that you get a large number of your customers from Prius Chat. If your product has had a 75% success rate on batteries that have already had failure codes and lights then people would be posting about it. I don't read every thread but I do read a lot of them and I haven't seen anybody posting about having their car diagnosed by the dealer and getting a $3700 quote and then being able to fix it with a grid charger. Sorry for getting frustrated but I care a lot about my customers and if I ever sold somebody something and it didn't work for them I would give them 100% of their money back. I had just finished reading another post and the op was upset because she had a P0A80 code and tried to fix it with your product and it didn't work. I have to go back to one of my customers next week and re-wire her fan control module because your company sent out the wrong wiring diagram. Of course that's time and money that I lose, not you, and certainly not my customer. Anyways, lets use this forum to share knowledge and help each other, not advertise.

Maybe the op will be back soon and we can find out what's going on with her car.

Surely Texas hybrid batteries is not advertising his services, otherwise he would use a different name. Just curious what happens when you rebuild a battery and it fails after a few months? Does the customer lose the time to redo or they don't lose time?

If hybrid batteries are properly restored/reconditioned and tested to ensure that any weak modules are removed they will last years and provide a huge discount to the owner. Currently every battery that we sell comes standard with an 18 month parts and labor warranty. 12 months and 100+ batteries rebuilt we have had zero come back. That's why we are about to start offering 36 warranties standard with our batteries. We also sell new batteries straight from Toyota for $1300 less than the dealership and up the 12 month Toyota warranty to 48 months. And if a customer did have an issue I'd personally be at their house the next morning to put a new battery in their car at no cost to them. I'm not advertising here. If I start off by saying who I am and what I do it's only so that you what my experience level is. I actually endorse other companies that I know are reputable and sell a quality product.

oh surely you didn't pat yourself on the back on your post. if that wasn't advertising, I'm not sure what advertising is.

if anybody can lie about the services and prices they offer, like what you just did, I would be very suspicious of who you are and what you are offering.

The endorsements you mention, falcon and dorman, both have battery issues that are well documented here on priuschat. And your claim of having 100+ batteries and none have come back......is as big of a lie as any.

i hhave to go with jeff on this one, o/p asked, 'anyone from houston that can re-balance my hv battery?' seems pretty clear cut to me, nothing about a bad hv battery.

Ok, sorry about the confusion over the op's question. I just wanted to wait and see what the symptoms were before giving advice or trying to sell products or services. That's all. You guys have a good night, I think I need a drink after all of this. :)
