    Ok. That makes sense.

But what always strikes me, is that in this fictional scenario most of the vehicles are shown to be modified or frankensteined vehicles put together for specific purpose.

Yet even though gasoline is suppose to be a incredibly rare commodity, all these vehicles are huge gas guzzlers.
Maybe that is pretty obviously symbolic of our societies majority attitude. .

But if gas was so rare, would you build a Electric Guitar that also shoots flame? Everything in the Mad Max universe burns fuel like it WASN'T very rare. Which even though it is pure fiction, never makes sense to me.

OK....I'm the weirdo looking for "The Prius" in Mad Max. I know...I need to get a life.

The Fred's House of Politics solved the biggest problems....a few members simply felt entitled to bully others into their POV on a number of hot topics. They seemed to go away after Fred's House of Politics, which leads me to believe they wanted members that wanted no part of their banter to suffer thru it anyway.

Present time: Maybe there are a few members that go out of their way to be contrary. Simply put: being a jerk is never cool.

yup, i think these types of flicks are for redneck type consumption. i doubt they will release a nerd version of it. in that one, everyone would be either riding horses or driving EVs charged by solar batteries.

I just saw Mad Max last night... even the motorcycles were from the gas guzzling spectrum! Rather than gasoline being scarce - it was fresh water that was scarce. The new Mad Max film is a future without an electric-me ...Not one solar panel or a wind turbine - even among the supposedly Greenies! Not one guy or nerd among the greenies too!

Well it appears the Prius C owners are not even mentioned in 4 pages of this post, so that would indicate that we are the nicest owners of all Prii owners! Or its just that the "C" has such a happy face, at least the gen 1 did! :(

You just haven't been around long enough to go all sour like the rest of us.

Yep, I realized water was scarce, but tying it to past Max Max incarnations I assumed all resources were also scarce, including petrol. But maybe that was a mistake. Because in this Max Max they certainly burn fuel like they have it to burn.

I went to see it with very low expectations. And despite my strange desire to see some solar panels or a "Mad Max" edition Prius, I'd say for Summer "Fun" movie fare...it was better than I expected.

    Semi-Spoiler Alert:

I liked the way the ultimate success of the group came about as a result of the work and evolution of the group. So even though this was called "Mad Max", he is in no way the "solitary" hero of the story.

That may be true for the average population of the planet, but select individuals can create changes with some cleverness. Is Elon Musk just a greedy capitalist or does he actually have some higher goals? No doubt most Prius owners base their purchase on economic concerns, but what about the exceptions?

It may be a migration looking at the changes on a year-by-year fluctuation, but it may be a revolution looking at the changes on a decade by decade march to sustainibility. It still amazes me how about a decade ago there were NO EVs or PHEVs to criticize. Now we have an immense number of different EVs and PHEVs to declare as not ready for prime time.

Yes, but one very important change accounts for most this. At some point the moderators stopped restraining nasty conversations. Now all they essentially do is just throw any degenerating thread into FHoPolitics. So there was a definite shift when this happened. Outside of FHoPolitics, it still has a lot of the original PC feel. Inside FHoPolitics, it is quite different now.

It is those Prius v owners who are at fault! All the other Prius owners are united by attempting to achieve the ultimate fuel economy, but v owners clearly had other priorities, like cargo space, seating for 5 adults, or simply a lack of a divider in the back glass. They can't be trusted to not bolt back to their SUVs and mini-vans* ;-)

*Are todays 'mini-vans' any smaller than 60s vans?

When I first arrived here there were a lot of vile arguments about religious beliefs. I don't think this forum is going to change anyones perspective about this topic. The forum seems friendlier to me because I haven't seen these type of arguments lately.
