This is a 2015 PiP I got special order. Production date 2/28/2015. Then it got shipped straight to me and I picked it up 3 weeks later with 1 mile on it. So it's not like the other thread where the car sat on the lot for a long time.

The only thing that was done to it was I had the dealer pair new TPMSs and do an alignment, which would have them resetting the zero point calibration for brake and acceleration sensors.
    ==============================================
Now I started to notice some minor weird stuff going on:

    * I dropped off a passenger, and when the door closed the car started saying Key Out and started beeping. I made the passenger come back to make sure she didn't take my key, but my key was in the centre console the whole time and nobody touched it. After a little bit the warning went off and I drove off like normal.

    * On EV mode, when the EV battery got low, it would show the battery at full or near full on the display. I think I read this somewhere on another thread but I can't remember exactly.

So they're not significant issues yet, but I'm hoping that this isn't foreshadowing of more problems to come.

The tpms and alignment has nothing to do with what you are experiencing. Why did you need an alignment? Was it off when you picked it up?

The key out thing is not a perfect system, I had this happen before putting keys in the cup holder. Maybe there's interference in that area that would block the signal to the car. If it happens again, then you can bring it back to your dealer to sort out......and get a free donut while you're there

Just full disclosure for background. That's the only reprogramming the car has ever seen since it left the factory. I don't think the dealer did any reflash, or at least they didn't tell me.

Yes, the front toe was slightly out and they set it back to the middle of the range.

It happened again today, but to be fair I did have the key to my RAV4 auto, iPhone phone, and a 12V splitter.

I'll remove all the electronics from the car and try again.

I just don't want to be driving along on the freeway and have the engine cut out because it thinks the key is out.

What would happen if the key fell out the window while you're driving?

If the car is already in "READY" mode, even removing the key won't do anything. It'll stay READY until you shut down.

You might have a bad battery in your fob, try the spare fob and see if it occurs.

the battery icon goes from full to empty in ev, then after .1 ev disappears, reverts to full for hv with no estimated miles showing until it settles into normal hv mode.

all of our 5 hybrids have shown the 'key not detected' light from time to time, no explicable reason. doesn't affect anything.

Nobody, I don't follow your next to last paragraph, describing hybrid battery state of charge. Is the charge displaying low, then jumps up? Or you're monitoring state of charge with something else too?

The key out warning happened again kinda randomly. When it does happen it's very easy to replicate. Just open/close the driver or front passenger door and it will set off the warning, but only for one beep. Then the warning goes off.

I tried replicating it by putting the key in the same place with all the electronics, but I couldn't get it to do it. Same thing with the second fob.

I'll try to video both the key out and battery indicator the next time they happen.
