Cool, I've never seen it in 3D.
You should see the looks we get when my friends and I make the robot sound, when we're sitting in a diner at midnight. :D

I have a 3D TV and some of the restored early 50s movies have been very good indeed. I'm looking forward to GOG, which I've never seen in any format.
The Museum of Modern Art in NYC is showing some of the restored films in June:

No, it is still putting on its make-up (in memory of the nice lady this morning sitting in the left turn lane well after the light changed to green and I was silently counting "One-Mississippi; Two-Mississippi; Three-Mississippi . . . ")

    Avengers: Age of Ultron!

But seriously...right now I'm convalescing because I was riding my bike and some idiot driver turned into me. As far as I'm concerned, self-driving cars can't come soon enough. (Hopefully they won't become sentient and go over to the dark side.)

On the other hand, I'm concerned about humanity rendering itself superfluous. When we stop doing everything because machines do it better and cheaper, we lose our sense of purpose. Hedonism does not satisfy; we need to be needed.

agreed. but i doubt self driving cars will cause that, we were fine (if you could call it that) before we had cars at all.

Two figures were given, but I used the 1,600,000 kilometers of fully-automatic driving rather than the larger distance which must have included the assistance of puny humans.
    have to see Gog.

    Speaking of blaming self driving cars - the folks on the leading edge of self driving cars is Tesla, and like many new cars, it is already equipped with blind spot detection, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. They are in just a few weeks (June 1st) going to have DOT permission to activate their, self driving "autopilot' mode - where for instance, you hit the button, and it'll drive itself from San Fran, to Seattle;

Tesla's Model S will add self-driving 'autopilot' mode in three months | The Verge

Much of this of course depends on the car's mapping program (or a big fail, if you're off google map program) - forward looking cameras etc, (so the car is always needing to know where the car is). So, if you go "grey market ... import the car to Turkey and run it on unknown roads - BOOM, things will go south REAL fast ... and in fact, did.

3 day old import P85D crashed while using TACC

So, yes, we will find a way to make things go wrong.

    Wow! Great test case!
But could you tell me exactly where that is so that I can make sure to NEVER drive there (or try to walk through it, for that matter!).

when I did a semester of school in Cambridge - queens college, we'd drive into London or Bristol or where ever, on week ends. We yanks had a different name for the roundabouts. We called 'em, 'circle jerks'.

that was beforethe days of gps. When I'd come upon a sign like the one below, I thought I might as well just kill myself and get it over with.

And you have to navigate from the left side of the street, in stead of the right!! When I think back to those times, I can't believe I'm still alive -

Get away, they're a challenge and a bit of fun - just don't make eye contact if you have to cut someone up. Put your indicator/turn signal on, give it a second or two and then go for it giving a little wave to apologise and job sorted.

There are benefits to roundabouts and there's a big one near me where traffic often queues across it - effectively grid lock across all four exits. Love to see a self driving car cross that one. The reason I mention it though is that my mother in law at the time wouldn't dare come visit as it meant driving across that roundabout. Result (y)

Not just for 4 way but for dangerous side turns (left turns for you guys) where there have been multiple side impact accidents. With a roundabout the car turning left (or right for me) has right of way and the oncoming vehicles have to slow down. If there is an accident it's at 20 mph instead of 60. France really introduced them over the last 10 years and their roads are much safer now. Also saves on the cost of installing and maintaining traffic lights.

    [IMG] RHD version.

EDIT: It's also helpful if you're the guy in the side road wanting to pull out onto a busy road. A roundabout means you only have to wait for one side to be clear and the other lane has to give way to you.

Roundabouts work if everybody understands the rules.
I go through a 4 way one everyday that replaced a 3 way light years ago. It's on a more rural road, and has well displayed signs lowering the speed limits to it and who has to yield. Yet some still zip across them without a look, and some still stop in the circle for people.

Is the magic of the magic roundabouts that they open up Vortices that can take you to King Author's Court?
